I am suffering from Instant Pot envy.
Has anyone organized an easy way to get them in Australia yet or is it beyond hope?
Barring the IP…is there anything that is very similar and has a stainless steel interior pot? That works as well in all functions?
Anyone organized an Instant Pot supplier for Australia yet?
My sister asked me if she was muling weed across borders (she brought it from UK, for me).
@anon13588705 I toyed around with an idea of getting a different brand, but decided against it due to safety reasons…we are talking about a pressurized pot, filled with boiling hot water. Of course, nothing can guarantee my IP won’t explode, but the sheer number of sold pots offers some sort of a safety record. I ordered mine on amazon, but do explore the “instant pot” reddit group, i’m sure there are a lot of Australians offering some sort of advice on how to get it and/or replacements worthy of the IP name
Can’t you order an IP from Amazon and have it shipped to Australia?

I saw a pressure cooking website a couple of days ago that talked about several brands with stainless pots. Sorry I don’t have s link but I would either order one from Amazon based in another country or seek out a brand that’s available in AU. The ones in the article were more expensive than instant Pots, some made in France and the US.
From Amazon.AU starting at $396
Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, 6 Quart | 1000W https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B00FLYWNYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MpqeDbTH0P0E
EXTREMELY OVERPRICED!
I ordered this from Amazon in the US for $59, pay the extra shipping! Looks like it went up $20 in the last week or so.
Instant Pot DUO60 6 Qt 7-in-1 Multi-Use Programmable Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, Yogurt Maker and Warmer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FLYWNYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AsqeDbH0F6NP9
I use a Cook4Me which I think is similar … great for family meals.

Thanks for the link Carl. Amazon US unfortunately won’t ship to Australia now we have a local Amazon…if you order you get blocked…and Amazon Australia is a dud… we don’t have the same suppliers and range of choice at all.
That seller in the link has a 50% negative rating and at $600+ (by the time I’ve paid for the delivery)… with reviews that say they got a faulty product and no assistance…it seems very risky.
I don’t understand why we can’t buy them here when everything I have read about them is that they are fabulous.
Thanks for the link and the recommendation Jay, that looks very promising. Ceramic coated pot seems good too. I am a bit uneasy with non-stick coatings and heat.
Nah!
I am waiting for medical cannabis to be approved for osteoarthritis though.
Can’t get an instant pot or medical cannabis. What kind of a country are we running here? Oh, right…we aren’t running it!
So if we have any members who are politicians could they please address these shortcomings?
Well that sucks, I have ordered from Amazon.UK in America before.
America is the land of the free…Australia is the land of the taxing beaureaucrat. Yes, it is really stupid.
It is to do with our 10% sales tax. Our federal power mad tax guys/treasurer demanded that Amazon US and Amazon UK (if they ship to Australia) collect and pay the 10% sales tax which overseas Amazon understandably said they will not do. Hence I can’t ship in an Instant Pot!
I will check out Jay’s kind recommendation and report back.
Easy to get books from a great company that sends them with no shipping costs from the UK…but an instant pot…more tricky!
I think I am becoming obsessed and had better stop complaining before I get booted off the forum form whinging! I just love cheap and well functioning gadgets that make cooking easier… cause I am a lazy cook but am somewhat health aware…so…I am becoming a demanding cheapskate! Making broth is a pretty time consuming occupation for this keto committed person, I am finding!
Thanks Meerkatsandy.
Checked out the Breville Fast Slo today…seemed flimsy and had a nonstick pot which I don’t think will last.
There’s a recall on an Italian pressure cooker currently due to problems of people being burned.
That sucks plus there are those voltage differences (US has it so easy when it comes to shopping - Kitchenaid mixers are 50% cheaper, IPs are much cheaper, we cant use any unless we invest more money…)
I went ahead and ordered the Cook4me that Jay likes.
I’m hoping it will make fabulous bone broth.
I will report back for other frustrated Australian IPot enviers.
I googled the machine, I believe you made a good choice and it looks like a mascot from a TV quiz from my childhood
