Anyone heard of a product called Ketopia?

As the title says, apparently its supposed to kickstart you into ketosis within an hour.
Was wondering if anyone uses it, and what they think of it.

I’ve never heard of it and never used it, but basically all exogenous (from outside the body) ketones do is put ketones in your blood for a period of time. They don’t give you the same benefits as endogenous (made by/within the body), in my opinion. I guess it’s sort of like the difference between actually running and winning the race (endogenous) versus buying the trophy on eBay and saying you won the race (exogenous).

I’d be very leery and stay away from exogenous ketones solely for nutritional ketosis purposes. That being said, there’s some exciting research regarding the use of exogenous ketones in other contexts, such as brain function, performance, etc. But, as a way to kickstart nutritional ketosis and help you gain health/lose weight? Nope, in my opinion.

Save your money and just eat keto.

One of the things that felt so right about keto-diett was to eat real food, not processed food. And certainly not “products”.

Ive been listening too the podcasts from Jimmy Moore: keto-talk and fasting-talk, but its increasingly more time spent pushing “products”. I am disapointed about that.

Indeed. The 30-second skip button on my Overcast podcast player is perfect for skipping commercials and product pushes…

I agree, it’s all about the “real food”. I cook a lot more now than ever and eat like a king it feels like. On a “lazy night” when we eat out it’s still usually a salad or maybe a bun-less burger. One of the reasons all the weight loss stall posts drive me crazy is because A) scales are pretty dumb and B) because eating ribeyes, butter, cheese, eggs and avocados isn’t hard and the only way eating like this could upset you is if you’re looking at keto as a fad diet. My opinion of course. Exogenous ketones are interesting but I don’t see them having a place in weight loss. If it seems too good to be true…

I see. I just thought it would be a quick way to get back into ketosis if you screwed up your diet one day and wanted to get back on track. Thanks for the info guys!

There are many benefits from being in ketosis, as we know, but ingesting exogenous ketones which just put ketones into your body is not the same thing because the ketosis process isn’t there.

If you go off track, just back back on and carry on. If you want to speed things up, get active to help your body burn through whatever glucose is in your system.

Some people have a need for ketones for therapeutic or other reasons. Most of us, however, are just in ketosis as a side effect of not eating carbohydrates, and the benefits of ketones themselves are minor. Don’t confuse the artifact of ketosis for the process of burning fat and lowering insulin.
