Anyone have any info on diabetes and blood coagulant disorders?

I just listened to Jaqueline Eberstein’s Ketofest 2017 discussion. She brought up blood coagulant disorders and diabetes. I’ve read some posts about blood thinners and diabetes and heard other speakers briefly mention the same topic. Does anyone have any more information about the subject? My dad has been on blood thinners for about ten years. He was diagnosed with diabetes about a year after he was put on blood thinners. They have him diagnosed with Factor V letin. I know they claim your blood is “stickier” as a diabetic, and I’ve actually witnessed that in myself. I used to have my blood meter set at the highest setting to draw blood. Now it’s on the number two setting and the blood flows freely. I’m just curious about any thoughts, comments, observations (either backed in science or anecdotal) that any of you may have about this topic. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been on blood thinners since I had a pulmonary embolism in 1979. I didn’t get T2 diabetes until 2010. My younger brother developed some blood clots about 5 years ago and was positive for Factor V Leiden. I’ve never been tested. I don’t have any kids, so no need. Both my brother and my mom have T2 diabetes. My mom’s mom had it as well.

I have times when by blood squirts out when I squeeze my finger.

So maybe correlation but not causation? Sorry to hear about all the coagulant disorders. My dad has Factor V, my dad’s father was on blood thinners for years before his death as was his dad. They never tested them for Factor V. I got tested about six years ago, and though I’m diabetic, I do not have the marker. My older sister had gestational diabetes while pregnant and she also has the Factor V condition. It just seems like a huge correlation in My mind…Thanks for your feedback!
