Anyone had skin things happenning with keto/carnivore?

#1

I am not sure if my recent skin probs are to do with a massive ongoing heatwave or due to keto/carnivore.
I’ve been keto for quite a while (long before joining this forum) and more recently carnivore, I guess about 4 months? I eat calves liver once a week.
Last 3 weeks I have developed some lumps that are itchy and uncomfortable. Not boils but not tiny like a mosquito bite.
Doc said staph (without any tests) and prescribed a cream.
Has anyone else had this sort of thing with keto/carnivore?

I’ve introduced some spinach this week.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #2

No, keto has actually improved my allergic rashes and insect bites.

In this area, we occasionally get spider bites. They are recognizable as hard, itchy, raised bumps, generally in a line. I have no idea what kind of spider causes them. They take a bit longer to fade than mosquito bites do, but cortisone cream helps to hasten them along.

x100. When I get bit by mosquitoes they don’t leave a red bump and only itch while the bite is happening.

Hmmm, maybe you’ve got Keto rash? It happens. If you search for it in the search bar you might find a thread that helps you- I’m sure I saw some, with pictures too.

Good luck!

Wow, thank you.
Sounds exactly like keto rash and will try the cider vinegar recommendation from Megan Ramos.
What is a little weird…when I searched a clip from Megan came up with her talking about keto rash (a question Richard passed on from the forum) and she said they recommend eating half a cup (maybe a cup can’t remember) of raspberries each day for a week or so.
I have never eaten raspberries before in my life til the last week or so when I have been buying them fresh and eating 1/2 a punnet with dinner. Almost fell off my seat when she recommended them for keto rash. :open_mouth:
I think the cause is I have just started working out in a geriatric gym attached to a hospital and it is a massive heatwave where I am. Megan Ramos mentioned that sweat with ketones can cause keto rash. Makes sense to me. I haven’t measured my ketones but I reckon they are roaring along. Not losing weight the last few weeks but losing a few clothing sizes often enough.

Matrika, I sometimes get little red bumps while fasting and I’ve always assumed they’re some kind of detoxing reaction. I know that word and concept is overused, but in fact our skin is one of the main organs of detoxification, and if you’re burning through fat cells (which you must be if you’re losing clothing sizes!) you might be getting rid of some old c–p that was in them.
Anyway, maybe it’s staph but in case that doesn’t sit right with you I thought I’d mention my experience.

Thanks Madeleine, much appreciate it.
Makes sense to me as you suggested: burning through fat and releasing stuff that is stored in the fat.
