A co worker today told me iv smelled bad lately. I’m embarrassed I’m not doing anything different. Anyone else been told they stink?
Anyone else smell bad
If it’s your breath maybe some mints or chewing gum will help? Drinking more water can help too since excess ketones will be flushed out in your urine more often. And I read somewhere that the more protein we eat the more ammonia is produced since that what happens when we break down protein so maybe less protein?
I would assume they mean your breath. Showering daily and deodorant aside, keto breath can be nasty. It’s enough to affect your life and turn someone away on a date. Stay hydrated, floss daily and brush twice daily. I would imagine fasting might make it worse too.
Forgive me, but do they know you’re on keto? People can be sabotaging arseholes after all. So my advice would be to get the opinion of someone you really trust ~ someone you know will tell you the truth no matter what. When they tell you you’re on the bugle, you’ll know you really are.
Also bear in mind that, at first, ‘keto breath’ often tastes a lot worse to us than it smells to others. The foul taste is not a result of ketones, which actually smell sweet and fruity, but a by-product of the death of mucosal bacterias as we starve them of sugars – so they give us a little ‘parting gift’ for our trouble!
That said, our clean body aromas do return to natural on keto, and like all other animals, our natural aromas are pungent! And they should be ~ strong, but not unpleasant.
It’s also very important to take into account whether it was a man or a woman telling you you smell bad – natural, clean, healthy human aromas tend to smell bad to our same-sex companions (and those closely genetically related), and lovely to those of the opposite sex (indeed, that is what our bodily aromas are for! When it comes to breeding-pair compatibility, the nose knows. In short, if a brother, sister, cousin, parent or child tells you you stink, and you know you’re clean, you can safely ignore them ~ because we are meant to smell bad to those closely related genetically, and vice versa. So, seeing you’re a woman, don’t get a fellow woman to give you the smell-test – ask a trusted, preferably genetically unrelated, man).
Thanks for the advice. It’s a female co worker of mine who said it. I don’t think she is talking about my breath like others mentioned above , she is talking about me actually smelling. I know she has very bad allergies and is sensitive to smell so maybe it’s just her sense of smell?? I’m not sure , iv been on keto since April and she knows this but Lately have been on again off again with keto so maybe it’s like a smell of my body going in or out of being a carbaholic? Who knows, I asked another female co worker and she said she doesn’t smell anything and hasn’t from me.
My partner tells me my breath stinks when I am in Keto, he has no idea how happy it makes me, lol
You punched her in the face, I hope!!! Lol!! How rude!!! I can’t imagine saying that to anyone…
Keto can cause BO… but it is temporary from all I’ve heard. I have a very poor sense of smell, so the fact I haven’t noticed anything isn’t saying much. But no one else has said anything to me. But I also live in a country where smelling good isn’t a huge priority. Still, my English students are very willing to comment on anything about me, so I still think it’s been okay so far.
