Anyone else experience this drop?

Every time I have steak, I am down at least a pound the next day.

Every. Time.

LOL… imagine if I went carnivore???

Anyone else have a go-to meal that has a similar association? I know it is probably just coincidental, but the consistency is fascinating to me…

I have not experienced this and only have lost a pound in a day fasting.
Unless you are fasting, it is likely that you are measuring water weight differences.
There might be something about your steak meal that simply tells your body to hold less water - or something about other meals that have you keep more water.

Finally, steak might be more satiating per its weight.

Of course, the next thing to do is have steak for the next 10 days.

Right? I can TOTALLY get on board with 10 day steak fest

I am guessing it is a matter of water. It’s been that way for me the entire time of eating this way, which is 18 months now.

It is so interesting seeing how our bodies respond so vastly differnetly and individualistically…

Thanks for sharing!

Perhaps this ^^

FWIW, I too have noticed that I “weigh in” a bit lighter mornings after a thick juicy steak dinner. I also notice that the meat is so filling (and satisfying) that I don’t eat as much other stuff along with that entree. And so, it could be total food weight, it could be water retention, or it could be that our bathroom scale is a pathetic joke as a scientific measurement tool and it means absolutely nothing. YMMV. :cut_of_meat:

This is probably relevant:

This is interesting as well.

Yeah that DOES make sense  Thanks!

I have occasionally seen what I consider paradoxical weight loss, but I think it is more that there is a lag time between action and observed results when it comes to body weight.

For example - I might be eating at a caloric deficit for a few days in a row with no change in weight, then have a couple of normal or even surplus intake days, and the weight loss shows up after the bigger eating days.

But I am betting that if there is anything going on there, it is the pattern of eating less then eating more, and not just the eating more by itself. In other words, if I lost 1 pound after eating steak one day, I don’t think that if I eat steak 7 days a week, I will lose 7 pounds.

Based on location, entirely possible that by eating steak 7 days in a row you’d lose more than £7 :uk:

Do the experiment and let us know what happens. I’d do it myself, but steak’s too expensive here in Canada for me to do it. @SomeGuy is onto the crux of it.

I don’t really like steak. Never have. It’s OK once in a while, but an infrequent once in a while. I’ll let you guys experiment with eating lots of steak.

Calling @FishChris I know you can handle this assignment!

I know one thing I cannot eat very much steak, because it is so filling.

I don’t sit their and weigh it but I do cut tiny pieces and enjoy the taste.

Can’t shake my booty on the dance floor if my tummy feels like it’s going to burst…lol

Besides water weight it could be the amount of let’s say steak eaten because the steak will release glycogen from storage in muscle tissue (if muscle tissue is not filled with too many fatty deposits which can inhibit the process to certain degrees?) and allow the body to burn adipose tissue?

You over-eat the steak while in ketosis and you get gluconeogenesis and you then trip hammer insulin rather than glucagon, glycogen storage gets filled back up in the muscle tissue and adipose tissue does not release lipid droplets for fuel to be oxidized but instead insulin stores the extra sugar back into the fat cell as lipid droplets (then you get fat all over again?).

So there is some truth to burning body fat by eating just steak! :cut_of_meat:

To clarify what over-eating steak would be while in ketosis; that would be over 3 or 4 ounces, I can barely eat 2 ounces…lol

Would eat a couple of eggs with that steak to potentiate visceral fat burning?

Well honestly, although I could eat steak 5 or 6 nights a week (and do it ear it 3 or 4) I doubt I could do carnivore, and not miss other foods a lot.

As for weight loss, I dunno… My weight fluctuates 2-3 daily anyway, steak or not…
