I beleive in Keto. Having said that im not stubborn and always open to different opinions. I will KCKO but i will not dismiss someone entriely, esp if the person is a dr. who seems to be a big fan of the FMD. Is he saying animal products are bad? I said i feel better doing keto, he replied ‘Feeling good doesn’t exclude progressive atherosclerosis and pre-cancer’ any thoughts?
Any thoughts on this twitter thread? everyone welcome
Okay, so I took a look at the article:
The title is misleading. The author wasn’t a carnivore, i.e. meat-eater only, at the start. While she did have meat in her (pre-vegan) diet, she had a lot of other stuff too.
Once I realized that, I stopped reading.
Feeling good excludes highly marketed shitty epidemiological study correlations. Look up the studies that show meat causes cancer and atherosclerosis and read them for yourself. Look at what the participants ate. I’ll clue you in, it wasn’t exclusively meat. They also had the bun, ketchup, fries (hello, PUFAs and trans-fat), and the soda. That or SAD. Either one is just as bad if you ask me.
Another vegan desperately trying to scare people away from meat with 1950’s logic and bit of worthless modern science pablum to back it up.
“Carnivore” seems to be this rhetorical device that vegans use to describe omnivores lately. I saw an add for seitan "meat"balls for use in Italian-american type dishes, saying “Why let carnivores have all the fun,” as though tomato sauce is meat, or even whatever binders are added to the meatball.
Militant vegans seem to see you as a carnivore if you have an egg.
This person was zero carb? Or eating a standard western diet? It’s pretty disingenuous to call her a carnivore if the latter. This is the only evidence I can find of her existing eating:
Aka, probably a lot of healthy whole grains, and a high carb+fat diet. Slash the fat and protein and sure, you’ll lose weight. Might be from your lean mass but hey.
Two things to note…
1.) I don’t feel any different on keto than I did when I ate much higher carb (which is to say that I feel great both ways, but now I get to eat a whole boatload of bacon). I was eating a mainly whole foods diet, which things like minimally processed whole grain breads. It was much lower fat than what I’m eating today. I had excellent energy, slept like a baby, and felt fab pretty much all the time. (I came to keto because I was looking for weight loss.)
2.) I went vegan for 3 months and while I felt fine - sustained energy, sleep was just as good, etc - I was EXTREMELY gassy and bloated ALL the time. It was awful. Also, I felt like I had to eat a much larger quantity of food all the time.
I’m still debating if keto is right for me (after almost a year). Integrating fasting is the thing that’s finally starting to move the needle, but I’m pretty sure I could just eat paleo along with IF and EF and probably have similar results. I have a lot of experimentation to do in the near future.
It gets even deeper, they made up a word for people who eat meat.
Carnist
It’s literally a made-up word, like vegan.
What they do doesn’t befront me, so long as no one at the USDA takes them too seriously.
