Any binge or over eaters lose their taste/smell from COVID (or otherwise) and LOVE it?

Not sure where this one belongs, but guess it’s more about taste in general although most taste loss the last year or two are COVID related. Maybe I’m alone here, I’ve been able to slim my self down (finally) and usually behave the last 2yrs, but since COVID took my taste I’m 100% able to not over eat, not snack, I just eat exactly what I should without adding on to it for zero reason other than that I literally LOVE to stick food in my face hole! I have the weight lifted off my shoulders feeling!

I know some people never (it seems for now) recover from that completely but find myself hoping I’m going to be one of those. I feel like my internal fight to not eat like a douche is fixed now. Wife says I’m nuts, but she’s also the type that can eat a handful of nuts and not eat the whole bag… NOT THIS GUY!

What say you? Some people say tragic side effect… for now I’m saying GIFT!

I am not surprised some people see the benefit… I see the benefit of not being able to eat carbs without getting sick - and still LOVE the fact I am not one of those folks… :wink: I want to keep my taste too, thank you very much… But I understand it can help with overeating. (I rather use willpower or anything and I never want to use willpower if it’s about eating… But better than losing my precious taste, eating is one of my major joys in life.)

I wish you to reap the benefits and then get back your taste, there is a reason we have that! It’s even useful, not just enjoyable…

A handful of nuts is PLENTY. I can eat 5g nuts. Or 1g. I came a long way.

@lfod14 Wow. Just WOW!
I have imagined the loss of taste as being excrutiating. The few times I have lost my taste (probably sick and stopped up), I couldn’t feel satisfied because I wasn’t enjoying the taste. It was like an itch I couldn’t scratch. BUT… that was pre-keto, pre carnivore. So maybe that would be different now, since I don’t crave carbs anymore.

Whatever, your news just astounds me! I simply can’t imagine living without the yummy taste of BACON for Pete’s sake!!! Can you even smell it??? I feel a bit panicked at the moment!

Yeah, it was funny. The only issues I had from Covid was the loss of taste and smell. I dropped about 12 pounds in no time just from having no desire to eat because I couldn’t taste anything. I can taste now but my loss of smell is still here, over a year now.

I lost taste and smell after my second Pfizer shot. They both came back in 2-3 weeks. I did not enjoy it! I learned that I like to taste and smell my foods. I don’t remember if I dropped any weight from it but I am mostly just maintaining now!
Good that you have a side effect that is helpful for you!

One of my very good friends lost her taste / smell in April 2020 and it still hasn’t returned, she has given up all hope of getting it back now and it has an awful effect on her life. Although I can see it may be regarded as a good thing short term, long term, it ruins lives. My friend now struggles even more with her weight as she has to rely on finding pleasurable food textures rather than taste, it’s an awful place to be.

I am happy for you. I had temporary loss of smell but not taste. I appreciate smell more now because I realize how much it affects my awareness of air quality.

Can’t smell a damn thing! That’s actually weirder than the taste! I gotta be real careful with my spray deodorant for a while :grin: Accidentally blasted my wife right out of the room the other day… I’m counting sprays now! But on that… my sense of smell was never 100% either.

I cannot make myself click on the little “like” heart for you.
YOU CAN’T SMELL BACON!!!
Life is over. Rest In Peace. :wink:
