Any advice please

I’ve been sticking to my Keto without setbacks, yet I’m not losing anymore weight. I’ve been at it a little under 2 months, but I can only think I’ve stalled out. I drink more than enough water, I stay low carbon, and I’m fairly certain I’m getting enough fat in my diet. Could I not be getting enough after all? What can I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been keto for about 2 months as well and have recently hit a stall. I’m not to worried about it though but I do plan on doing either a bacon fast or egg fast to jump start things again. Do you practice IF or EF? What is your calorie deficit?

(Cody) #3

I eat my meals at roughly the same time every day. Most times they all include a good sized handful of spinach, and roughly a half-cup of cottage cheese. I will do what I can though to break the stall I’m in. As things stand now, my weight just hovers around the same thing so yay I guess, but that’s not what I’m looking for right now.

After I Conferred with myself, I think I might give an Egg Fast a dedicated attempt, but I need to read more into it. I have ample amounts of butter to cook with, and I also have ample amounts of Bacon grease I collected in a grease strainer, because hey, why not. From my understanding, and correct me if I’m wrong, and it’s one tablespoon of fat for egg eating, and up to an ounce of cheese per egg. Is this correct?

It’s one tbs of fat per egg consumed and 6 ounces of full fat cheese allowed per day.

(Cody) #6

I only ever use mozzarella anymore.

(Sonia A.) #7

I think it’s ok as long as it’s full fat. Good luck on your egg fast. I hope it will break your plateau.

(Cody) #8

Thanks. I hope it will too. EDIT: do i actually need to eat cheese with it, or is it optional?

When I have a stall I mix things up. Sometimes adding more fat, sometimes reducing. Sometimes more calories, sometimes less.
If you don’t already put down what you eat into something like my fitness pal that can be a real eye opener. I generally don’t record but if I am stalling I plug what I have eaten in for a day or so and sometimes I can see I have been overdoing the carbs without realising. Nuts and keto desserts are a big thing for me with carb creep. I cut them out for a bit and break the stall. Sometimes with me even too many vege can be the culprit.

As for egg fasts the casein in the cheese is supposed to be part of the process but some people do dairy free by substituting mayo (without soy or seed oils) or just eat the fat and eggs. I personally have a bullet proof sort of coffee with part of the fat for the eggs and eat the eggs later in the day. Say you are having 2 eggs - 1tbspn of fat in the coffee in then cook the eggs in the other tbspn of fat.

This post explains the concept of the egg fast

Her egg fast Alfredo fettucine has gotten me through many a egg fast dinner where you feel like you might not want to eat another egg.

Good luck.

Fettuccine? You ate pasta while doing Keto? Also, I usually don’t drink coffee, I’m rest I’m at work. Anytime else for the majority of the day is nothing but water.

(Kate) #11

No, not real pasta. It is a mock fettucine made of eggs. You whip it up and bake it. It comes out sort of like a an omelette and you cut it into ribbons. I found it broke up the monotony of just eggs and fat.

Intermittent fasting with it, just drinking water helps during the day if you don’t drink coffee. I did one or two meals of eggs depending on hunger usually skipping breakfast for 3 days. One thing I did do is follow the transition period for 2 days after. Two meals of eggs on the forth day and one meal of eggs on the fifth day coming out of of it. It helped transition out. It is something to do with not putting weight etc back on.

(Cody) #12

I have a box of five dozen eggs in my fridge that just stares at me when I open the door so, I might as well use them. I will most likely start it for my breakfast meal in the morning, or at least my lunch meal, so I can read up on it some more so I can figure out exactly how not to screw it up.

EDIT: I have to correct myself. I don’t eat my meals at regular times, I offset them by around four hours, because I work nights.

(Cody) #13

Tell me if you would, if this sounds like an okay egg fast. Two eggs for every meal, made however which way I fancy at the particular moment, either butter, or any other animal fat I happen to have on hand, and a jalapeno mozzarella cheese stick plus however much water I think I can drink throughout the day with a minimum of 192 Oz.

(Sonia A.) #14

You don’t have to eat cheese. It’s optional.

How long has this stall been? Don’t worry about a week here or there where you aren’t losing.

Don’t give the scale so much attention. You could still be losing fat and increasing lean mass. Try taking some waist and hip measurements instead and see of they are moving in the right direction for you. Maybe your clothes fit better, or you have more energy, those are the things to look for at this stage.

(Brad) #16

That is a lot of water, remember the more water you drink the more electrolytes you will need.

(Cody) #17

Roughly 3 weeks now give or take. Possibly a tad longer. I noticed my pants were fitting looser soon after I started but, after a months time, I slowed to a stop it seems.

(Cody) #18

I whizzed on a Ketostix, and it said i had a small amount of ketones, so I guess I might be at least a little in Ketosis.
