Don't change this title. The Anova Sous-Vide Stick Phone App is Buggy

(Carolus Holman) #1

I have been using the Anova Sous-vide stick for about a month. The unit does not work correctly, the temperature randomly resets. The timer is just junk. Setting it manually is next to impossible, so I use the App on phone. I don’t know why it just randomly goes from 129 to 61.1, I mean 61.1? WTF. I would NOT recommend this thing to anyone. Anova shame on you for making such a trashy product.

UPDATE: I have determined the Issue to be with the Anova App on my phone. I stopped using it and have experienced much better results. I just set the temperature and let it go however long it needs. Much better.

Sounds like you got a dud unit - I’d ask for a refund or replacement.

(Running from stupidity) #3

Why haven’t you used the warranty?

#4

Yeah, @Carolus_Holman, it sounds like you have a defective one. Mine works perfectly and never resets. I couldn’t be happier. Way better, and quieter, than our last sous vide!

Is that the nano that just came out a few months ago with the non removable outer casing?

@dlc96_darren What do you use sousvide for Darren, heating up cans of sardines? :cowboy_hat_face:

With the temperature shift I was going to say it’s F and C but the numbers aren’t quite there.

NO! This is a testament to how wonderful a sous vide is. Even a lazy person can use it! :grinning:

So do you sear the meat afterwards or is the lazy keto way to just cut the bag open and grab a fork? I’m getting tired of this fancy cooking kick I’ve been on lately. I think you schooled me.

(Mandy De Fields) #9

Mine works perfectly. Never had a problem tbh. Perhaps you got a lemon?

#JUSTNO

(Sheri Knauer) #11

I would definitely contact them. It happens sometimes where you get a dud. Im sure they would be happy to make it right. Or just return it to the store you bought it from if you did not order directly from Anova. I have one that works perfectly.

Fortunately, it doesn’t take much effort to throw a piece of meat on a hot pan. (and I thought the keto thread was your domain)

(Full Metal KETO AF) #13

@dlc96_darren I do love it the best, but it’s getting a little thin on posters lately. I wish a lot of people that I liked especially were back again. Anyways “domain” is kind of strong. I hope I’m not dominating there. I love @runswithdogs posts and @juice and several others.

I do recall that post now. Sometimes I forget, call it a senior moment if you like. :cowboy_hat_face:

Don’t take that the wrong way. I love everything you post there. It’s supposed to be a thread showing how creative you can be with keto, so you’re serving the forum well, by posting there.

I may be lazy, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate your creativity. :+1:

EDIT: Let me put this another way. If you start posting less, I’ll start harassing you because you’re not posting enough.

(Running from stupidity) #15

I think it’s also to show how people can eat the same thing over and over again and be good with that

#16

This is definitely true for me!

Return it.

My Anova works perfectly and I love it. I got the extended warranty from Amazon just in case.

I rarely use the app or Bluetooth option because I am “out of range” in my bedroom, which is just off the kitchen/dining area of my home. I just flip the dial on the Anova to set the temp and watch the clock.
