Another interesting article from Gary Taubes plus a NinaT guidelines update

That was my thought too as naturally thin and active people need a good diet too and it’s not necessarily obvious what is that.

In general it is working for her or she believes it is. She is not a TOFI because her fasting glucose and A1C are fine. Not every heart issue or blockage is caused by diabetes. I was shocked about the Calcium score but she is very nice but one of those people who always “knows” the best way to do things and she trusts her doctors

There does appear to be a correlation between coronary artery calcification and stress. Your friend may exercise and eat healthy but there may be stressors in her life that she can or cannot control that are contributing to the high CAC score. Maybe even the exercise itself if she is overdoing it.

Interesting thought. She retired a year ago, happily married, never had children, not rich but a nice pension and her DH still works, had good friends and hobbies. She is active but not a crazy exerciser (I have another friend who is compulsive when it comes to exercise). She eats a diet low in processed foods and high in fiber

Meanwhile, a friends husband was just diagnosed with T2 and high Triglcerides (not fasting, will repeat in a month, I told him should repeat immediately as not fasting is not relevant). He is normal weight, active. Has a family history. Refused meds for a month. Meanwhile, planning to eat lean protein and low GI carbs. I told them good luck! That is a very difficult diet to stick to and I cautioned them that not everyone reacts the same to the same carbs
