Hello everyone. I’ve been on Keto for a year now and have lost 70 lbs. My Dr. prescribed lab tests and so far, everything’s looking great. Lipid panel is normal, FBS too. However, my CRP says HIGH (normal range 0.00-0.50 MG/DL) mine is 1.27. I do strict keto, workout 5 days a week and have been feeling great so far. (except for a little joint pain which I attribute to exercise) So my real concern here is, I have a history of heart disease in my family and I don’t know if I should freak out over this result. My Doctor’s appointment is next month. I just want a little peace of mind.
Another High CRP Question
I wonder if your CRP has improved since doing keto? It stands to reason that eliminating foods that cause inflammation would lower this marker.
I do think a historical number would help. It’s hard to say if it has gotten better or worse without it
From what I know, even though CRP is a great test, it’s a highly volatile measurement. If you’re fighting off a bug on the day of the test or just had an intense workout it will be higher. You can get a second CRP done on your own (though Life Extension or another testing service) just to see if it’s chronically high.
Or even if you merely got a paper cut that is a little infected.
I was wondering the same. It’s the first time he orders all these tests to me. Others like Sed Rate, which I believe also shows inflammation came back fine.
My Dr. is very interested in Keto and he ordered around 20 different labs, they all came back perfect.
Pardon my ignorance but, what is that historical number? Is it another test I should request from my Dr? It’s the first time I have this test ordered. Perhaps Keto saved my life unknowingly.
No cuts or bugs here. I do have an intense workout Monday thru Friday (elliptical 1 hour) and rest on weekends. I eat as clean keto as possible, avoiding processed foods and artificial sweeteners. Except for some joint pain, which I believe is due to exercise, I’m feeling very good. Now, this result is the only one thats bothering me, since all other labs (CBC, CMP, HEPATIC PROFILE, LIPID PROFILE, ANA TEST, SED RATE, U/A, TSH, HGB A1C, Vit D-25) came back perfect. As I said before, I wonder if it was higher in the past and, perhaps, going keto saved my life!
It’s entirely possible. But especially since all the other markers are good (especially WBC), then you don’t appear to have anything to worry about.
Sorry meaning a previous test number. We don’t know if it has gone up or down or remained stable.
