Annoying Tingles

1800 mg of sodium is pretty low on low carb. I really would try upping it to 5 grams. It’s not going to hurt over the course of a day or two to give it a try. The worst that can happen is you retain some water.

Nowhere near enough on keto.

Most ketogenic diet specialists suggest that followers should aim to eat two to four grams of sodium (2000-4000 mg) a day . Note that the minimum daily sodium concentration (RDA) for regular diets is 2300 mg.

If this is related to diet (and it might not be), drink enough water, add salt and some magnesium.
Also, don’t use the word keto with your doc. Just say you are cutting down on sugar and processed food. They won’t argue with that and will look for the root cause.

I was putting pink Himalayan salt in my water, on my food, in my bone broth. I was having quite a bit of heart palpitations. I thought I might be having too much and not enough potassium to combat it. When quit adding salt into things the palpitations went away.

Well, then, never mind about the salt.

Excellent advice. Unless you’re blessed with pro-keto doctors (luckily, we’ve been fortunate), this is a wise way to do an end-run around the ill-informed.

Actually, my doctor eventually came around as we watched me become lean and healthy. He’s now a big fan.

Definitely look into your magnesium intake, not only does it help with keto-constipation, it can also help with nerve function which is very much related to tinglings in the body. I used to have this quite often in the afternoon or early evening, out of the blue, before I did some research into it. Could be keto related, could also be non keto related. I’m not sure how well himalayan salt is absorbed compared to bottled supplements, so it may be a bit of a trial and error until you decide to give supplements a try. Hope this is helpful.
