Just wanted to know if the stick show I am in ketosis am I losing weight?
Am I losing weight if I am registering on the Ketostix?
Not necessarily. It is, however, indicating you are burning fat. But it doesn’t indicate whether that fat is from your food or from your body.
That’s what will happen: if your diet is primarily fat, your body has to burn either the fat you ate or the fat on your body, hence more ketones.
But don’t confuse this with weight loss. Not the same. Ralated, but not the same.
How do your pantalones fit? Or shirts?
That’s the best way I can tell since I dont weigh or measure. I’m almost falling out of one pair of my favorite leggings. It’s nice to fall out of leggings because they’re supposed to be painted on your ass. They quickly indicate any loss for me.
In my experience if I am turning the ketosticks moderate or higher, and KEEPING IT THERE, then I am losing weight.
If not then I’m not. And mild pink is good (for me) but won’t lose much if any weight.
Check the scale; check your clothes.
People are different but this is generally true for me and my family.
Thanks what I have found is if I am registering moderate or higher I am losing weight.
Those sticks are useless for non diabetics. They will only tell you if you’re wasting ketones in your urine which is a natural part of adaptation and will stop.
Knowing that ketones are in your urine has been far from useless to us for 40 years, especially when we didn’t have ketone meters available or for beginners who need to start cheap and simple.
Also in the beginning, months at least, we’ve always seen a good reliability with the strips: Purple is weight loss, negative isn’t.
This may not be 100% reliable for everyone but it has been consistently useful.
Far too many beginners try to “count carbs” and do a poor job because they simply don’t read every label, or going back 40 years there weren’t good labels, we were lucky to get the main ingredients with no laws forcing labeling.
