Am I getting enough fat/calories?

Hello. I am new to keto (9 days in:grinning:). I am 5’10" in height and weighed 194.4 lbs at the start (haven’t weighed myself since). I had the typical “woosh” of water the first few days.

Here is my question - I run 9 miles per day (6x per week) and I am eating between 1800 and 2100 calories per day and between 130-150 g of fat. Is this enough for my physical activity?

I am by no means a “fast” runner. I was down to about 10 minute miles pre-keto, but now I’m at about 12 minute miles as my body adapts.

Thank you for any input you have. I appreciate it!

Hi Heather,
I think at your height your calories would be on the low end of right without the running.
If running burns 100 cals per mile roughly, then that is another 900 cals you need over an above your normal amount.
I don’t really believe in counting calories as such, aside from making sure you have enough to stop your metabolism from tanking. I believe in trying to eat to hunger and letting my body figure out how much it needs.
For me this absolutely fails on a carby diet as my appetite has no off switch, but on keto I have found my off switch again and it works.

Thank you for the response, Ellie! It’s really hard to get rid of the CICO mentality. I’ll have to work on that.

It is hard.
This post from Richard made a lot of sense to me.
