Almond flour due date

#1

Hi all!

I have an unopened package of Almond flour that is very past the date. Like 1.5 years overdue. I put it in the fridge about a month ago. Whatcha think. Risky or try it?

#2

Probably risky. But, your call on whether to take the risk. Might just be stale or degraded or something, if you don’t find any mold or other problems with it, or weird smell.

#3

Not risky usually. Just lost it’s almond flavour. Will likely taste stale. It’s probably like eating wood shavings at this point.

Does it smell rancid? If it smells fine and there are no signs of mold, I’d probably try it, the stuff is darned expensive!

Hmmm…I will open and smell tonight. Maybe I will taste it if it smells fine. ya expensive is right! But not worth wasting other ingredients if I chuck it in the end. Thanks all :kissing_smiling_eyes:

And I didn’t realize almond flour could get pregnant!

(I’m here all week)

LMFAO. It took me a second…buuuut… awesome.

Could lead to a 0 calorie day!

I would try it. I would for sure use the sniff test. Unfortunately, washing with bicarb will not work like it does with meat when it doesn’t pass said sniff test! I agree with @Fiorella that it will likely just be stale. TBH, in most recipes it doesn’t add much from a flavour POV so I would just make something and see. Maybe eat a bit as it is first?

Hi, Thanks! I sniffed it and there was no smell…no real taste either. I’m going to try
