Allergic to eggs

(Empress of the Unexpected) #1

I can’t eat eggs. And feel bad because they are a nutritious Keto mainstay. Anyone have suggestions for a substitute for bacon and eggs? Bacon is my favorite food on the planet but I’m not really sure what to pair it with. Any suggestions for a well rounded first meal of the day involving bacon would be very welcome! (All I can think of is bacon wrapped in bacon topped with bacon😂)

Do you like avacado? Sliced up avacado with bacon is a pretty good pair.

And if you have time to do a little cooking, there are some recipes using pork rinds to make pancakes or waffles.

I love avocado. That’s been one of my choices. Or the bacon covered in my husband’s killer guacamole.

Me? Cooking? But I love pork rinds…

Seriously, I might try the pancakes. And on a lazy day, bacon and pork rinds with guacamole! I can totally do that.

I used to cover my bacon with shredded cheese and melt…Always worked for me.

cauliflower mash with lots of butter, cream, cheese etc is a good substitute for eggs. I usually have one or the other with a meal.

Yum!!!

Or mashed up with ACV or cream. Love my avo and so filling too.

I sometimes smother it in cream cheese. Sorry about the egg allergy. Have you tried other types, like duck eggs, to see if it’s just a chicken egg allergy?

(Empress of the Unexpected) #13

Honestly, it is a psychological allergy. When I was a kid they knew I had a heart murmur but no echocardiagrams in those days. Had it fixed finally in my 40s, an atrial septal defect. The result was that as a child I could not put on weight and eating was a challenge. My stupid pediatrician thought drinking raw eggs with chocolate mixed in (sorry, can’t disguise a raw egg) would keep me alive. Well, here I am, years later, and still alive. The good doc got that part right. To this day I can’t even eat with someone having eggs. I’m even having trouble with this post! So you had a great suggestion but, can’t even deal with the thought.

But cream cheese rocks!

This. Bacon and cream cheese, smothered in melted cheese. Makes me hungry thinking about it!! :yum::yum:

Yes! My cute husband who really thinks I’m a bit off kilter just drove home on his lunch break to bring me fresh pork rinds!!! And my best friend is very supportive in her own way. She says she will be ready to dial 911 when I have my impending stroke or heart attack😂

(Alec) #17

Well, we know the science, and I think you should tell your friend you’ll be doing the same for her!!:see_no_evil:

(Empress of the Unexpected) #18

That made me laugh! I’ll have to remember that response😂

Bacon wrapped asparagus smothered in butter. Dear god yes.

I made this with a horseradish mayo dip. So good!
