Whoa! 78 lbs…bravissima!
All things in moderation...NOT!
My doctor knows I’m eating Keto and said it was fine, but to still enjoy food at special occasions. He said you can have cake and other snack - just remember, all things in moderation. I was pretty annoyed so I asked him if that holds true for crack too. He didn’t find it funny.
It really seems to bother some people that I won’t cheat. I never see anyone pushing broccoli, but cake or cookies I get the “Oh, one won’t kill you”, which I reply “yeah, either will none”.
That’s more about them than you. They’re looking for someone to let them off the hook by saying, “Hey, we all do it, don’t beat yourself up about it.”
For some people, beating themselves up is the only exercise they get. Let 'em do laps. Nothing you can do to stop them in any case.
I get the same thing from family and friends. They just don’t get it. Extreme insulin intolerance is difficult enough to handle without going down that slippery slope!
The definition of moderation would be quite different from now and say 200 years ago.
That’s why it is particularly useless in this context.
Having lunch with my grandsons yesterday, and being winter here I asked them what they would be eating if there were no stores, like hundreds of years ago. After some thought, one of them said he might not be eating at all. I agreed. The other grandson said he would have to hunt some meat. Yes, and you wouldn’t always find meat. You would go hungry at times, for sure. I reminded them that times are different now, but still very challenging with regards to food. Now, faced with a plethora of every imaginable food option, we must continuously choose to serve our health, or serve our taste buds, and that’s a tough choice. Saying “eat everything in moderation” is meaningless today. They’re only saying it because it’s an acceptable statement in society.
For all the people who are constantly hearing about moderation, cheat days, is this safe- whatever…people are going to say what they’re going to say. Let them and be like a duck- let it roll off your back. If you are healthy, getting control of your diet (which is the first time in a long time for me) and you don’t feel like you can cheat or just don’t want to, don’t. We have to control our own lives. I tell myself that “sugar is the devil,” and it seems to work. I stay keto, am not normally hungry in between meals, and when I do feel like snacking, typically it’s because it’s a learned behavior, not because I need to nourish. And, remember that most of the people who are commenting are doing so because of past notions on dieting. I say- hey, if I’m losing weight without trying (calorie counting), my clothes are fitting much better- terrific!
I wonder if they apply the “everything in moderation” and “everyone needs cheat days” to their marriages… hmmmmm
That’s how I pretty much live my whole life… “I can only take so much of you people…” LOL.
Of course you can silly! Post away wherever you like. If you know the category you want to post in post there otherwise just dump it in chat. If you are really new as in the last 15 minutes you may need to wait (15 minutes total) before your first post. That is just to make sure you are not a bot!
