Canadians not welcome apparently.

I was disappointed. Just a bunch of bigwigs hyping the project. The public venue in NYC was virtually empty. PR is not their strong point. I’m going to participate, because they say that participants will have some say in the direction it goes.

Huh! This is the kind of million-people research the NIH should be doing! I went through all the people in key positions in their various subgroups and didn’t see anyone I recognize from the LCHF world. Wouldn’t it be great if doctors Phinney, Volek, the Eades, or Priyanka Wali were involved??? Hopefully the Virta Health published research will be incorporated somewhere along the way…

Hey guys watch out for Prof Rory Collins he’s Mr Statin in the UK makes a huge fuss about any anti statin propaganda and he’s number three on the people… just a heads up.

Oh darn… yep! My general impression is that NIH is enmeshed with pharma, and I went looking and surely seems like pharma over dietary healing is very much their thing for funding purposes and in line with the new ‘pharmacogenomics’ and biotech interpretation of biology.

Guess they’re not interested in consulting with ketogenic physicians & dieticians… >_<

I wondered if it was going to be all establishment hype. But if there are enough LCHF participants in the million, we can make some noise. They have said publicly that they are going to include participants’ ideas in how they structure the ongoing studies.

I saw someone post about this a couple of days ago. Decided to join, to help get the word out on LCHF/Keto. But half way thru the sign up process, I ran into to deal breaker, for me. First let me say, in order to participate, I would most likely have sent them any info they asked for… nuthin to hide here.

But… they said to participate I must give consent for them to have complete access to all my electronic medical records!?! And this was AFTER they warn you that while they will take the upmost care in protecting your privacy and data, the risk is not zero that you could be hacked.

Buh bye.

Well, I’m in. I’m not too worried about the security issue. I mean, all of our data has been hacked to death if not thru OPM, then through Equifax. I think we should inundate the ranks with LCHF fury. Even if this is funded by big pharma, what would a ten year study show regarding that? That statins and insulin helped a million people get healthier? It’s not possible.

I know, ancient thread, but I am curious. I just signed up today. How much follow up have you received? New questions, surveys? Anyone been asked to give blood? Just wondering how often they check in.

(Wendy) #11

I signed up a few months ago. I gave blood and measurements. I haven’t done any surveys since though I think I can if I want.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #12

How do they gather all your medical info? With your SSN?

(Wendy) #13

No actually only on the medical portal I believe. As I haven’t been to a doctor in years there’s not much to gather I’m afraid. :slightly_smiling_face:
