Glad to help bring a smile to your face!!! :grinning:

I feel like a kid trapped in a grown-up’s body sometimes. The healthier I get, the more silly and adventurous I become. Blew my kids away when I jumped off a cliff into Lake Superior - on a bet. Had on my shoes, all my clothes. Full send. All for $20. How childish is THAT?! The second time I did it - wasn’t even for money. Just for the fun of it.
As my kids say, “YOLO”. (You Only Live Once)

To me? Not at all. My mind is paranoid about such things. I have a fear of heights. I couldn’t do it for a million, no matter the currency…

But it’s very important to keep the inner child living in us.

Thank you, picked up some diuretics this afternoon to take with the BP meds. The pharmacist at my health care centre is lovely…always available to talk always calls when he say he will, counts for a lot these days. Good to be able to have the same person who knows your history every time too ! Got to start taking them tomorrow morning and he’s going to call me next Thursday to see how I get on. Cant take them on my work days though in case my BP drops too low and I start having proper Falls!

Going to get those meds gave me the opportunity to get some more duck eggs and wild bird food which were on my shopping list :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for the concern and the hug that meant a lot :kissing_heart:

F**k carbs!

@SecondBreakfast its a bit of a pain in the proverbial
Getting food prepped for work which is why I always keep it simple… chuck some cooked chicken in a microwave container with some butter … full stop! 8 always have a load in portion bags in the freezer ready for work days. Cost of eggs varies so much depending on size and which eggs you get, I just paid £5 for 12 large duck eggs and I made sure I picked out the biggest ones lol  I think some more scrMbly eggs look good if I’m still hungry before bed

@Fangs get back there and grab yourself some more of those sale steaks, you’ll be annoyed with yourself if you don’t and they go up in price! :astonished: I always end up going back freezer room permitting lol. Mind you I have made my mind up it gets filled once a month from this month onwards … got to get myself in that habit before possibly being granted ill health retirement. Only extras to buy will be eggs and butter/lard if I run out … 9h and duck eggs as a treat hahaha

When I got home from the local town with my new meds, wild bird food and lovely large duck eggs i had a nice chilled sit outside. Did some pottering, dead heading and watering even though weather forecast was rain… they said they were thirsty! So I sit down with a cuppa and the sky comes over all grey

so it was obviously time to come inside and get some food cooking for dinner  however it didn’t start raining … it was due at 5pm according to my phone!

Organic minced (ground) beef. It was 17% fat. I wouldn’t ordinarily buy organic and would get the 25%fat or most fat I could if I had the option but this pack from my freezer had a reduced sticker on it and I can’t pass by reduced meat. I just added a good knob of butter to both helpings … I ate the whole 500g … at least I think it was 500g.

Some of my blooms …

Forgot to post yesterday. It’s been a super stressful week and I’ve just been trying to get through it. Yesterday though I took the trip to beef bacon town (an hour away, but only 40 minutes away from my kids school) and bought 10 packs of beef bacon, 2 packages of ribeyes and 2 huge chuck roasts.
Meal yesterday was a lamb steak, suet, bone broth jello, and a hard boiled egg. Not enough food but it was too stressful. Today was beef suet, bone broth jello, beef bacon and chopped, air fried beef roast.

Long day here. Had an appointment this morning at Spine and Pain, little pain to report though. I asked the NP if it’s possible to reverse arthritis through diet - she has been on a keto diet - and she said you can reverse the inflammation but the damage done and tissue lost can’t be recuperated. I asked her about vision, and about any condition exacerbated by inflammation and insulin spikes; well, mainly I just told her my story, hoping she’d agree. She did say a lot of the illness in this country is caused by sugar.
I ordered a copy of my records to take along to TX in case I get a new doctor there; we will probably try and find a GP we can work with.

At Silver Diner I asked about omelets, IHop uses flour in their omelets, but she said nothing but eggs in theirs. No cream, milk, nothing but eggs, salt, maybe pepper although I didn’t see or taste any, A cheese omelet and 2 links of pork sausage and I was good.
Afternoon, I took the pup to the pet store to find a harness she wouldn’t slip out of. That took an hour, then when we left she slipped out of the new one so we went back and tried the last one, and it’s good.
Tonight I had a dry run (more like a lecture) for a speech contest I’m judging tomorrow, then we settled in… light scotch and soda, then hamburger, eggs and gouda cheese. I really was craving pork rinds and sour cream but didn’t have any!

@Shinita we don’t know whether the scotch eggs will freeze well. I’ve never frozen a soft boiled egg! If you find out, let me know  I think in the fridge it said they were good for 3-4 days but I think I went longer, when I made them for the trip, and they were fine.
@Karen18 That must have scared you! For all the care you take, all the workouts you do, to have complications like that! But it looks like you’ll get it sorted. Maybe it’s too MUCH meds, you’re healthier all the time! Your flowers are gorgeous!

Last day of the rain here I think, and the muddy dog will have to eventually be washed! Looking forward to seeing some sunshine here! Teaching til 1, then the speech contest 3-4:30ish, then we’re meeting my daughter and her new beau for dinner! Should be a fun day.

Definitely no flower photos today, it’s a very rainy, gloomy day.

We lack onions - at least compared to the amount of the beef I got out of the freezer yesterday (it’s MUCH  Alvaro had no idea what to cook, he has no vegs now and the beef had such an inconvenient round shape to stack pork on top of it later… anyway, we didn’t have beef since IDK how many weeks). Lower leg meat so it’s best for stew as far as we know. My recipe already is quite poor in onion compared to normal recipes but it was always good and we never felt it would have needed more. Maybe we try it with even less though I have onion powder (inferior but it’s not alone) and a big purple onion (for a dish needing raw onions) too. Of course I am all for using less onion, I just want the stew be good and authentic enough
Sorry for the plant talk but we typically make stew when cooking beef and stew requires onion and paprika here.
Next beef will be the big brisket, that only will have salt  Or IDK, I probably experiment with half of it first, I want to roast it but I never roasted beef… We cooked it into oblivion - or I fried it in tiny pieces, that goes quicker.

I slowly started to eat in a bigger eating window, I eat at night and the amount is bigger again, nothing too bad but I better do something about it. TMAD almost always very quickly evolved into eating all day starting from lunch and that’s not so great. At least I am not very hungry or unsatisfied while not liking any food in existence. It’s still kind of chill, I just eat many times, I am peckish even at 1am and I must stop that. Well the roast was a bit tempting (but it still wouldn’t really be that if I was completely satiated) Again, I shouldn’t keep so big breaks from it anymore…

great reads on the board but fast post again.
got tons to handle and tons to mow today…ugh…home chores, who loves them? not me HA

today is a NY Strip steak from the supply I got.
after that, not sure, but got a nice pack of 85/15 burger so will probably just jump on that. food is not a big interest right now which is always a good thing

Great All Animal April everyone!! Hold firm!!

Feeling a bit better today, not so dizzy … sure it was just because work had crashed my head on Thursday. I have taken the diuretic this morning but not sure how long it takes to work. I was a bit worried I might be running to the loo throughout the CrossFit workout but I didn’t need the loo till I got home. I will see if there is a noticeable difference in BP tomorrow morning as I took it straight after my meds this morning.

Nothing better than bone in, I wish we had more bone in here. That all seemed to go out the window with mad cow disease all those years ago. I was so glad when they started allowing restaurants to serve up Tbone with bone in again. Probably why I like lamb chops so much as they have bone in. I like to gnaw on the bone at the end … still a kid lol. We can get Beef rib on the bone but never seen a whole rib joint on bone. Could be that peeps can’t generally afford a rib roast. Whatever enjoy the roast and post pics to make me drool.

2 nights on the trot for a fairly good sleep! Steadily getting better. The amount of hours sleep registered on my fitbit isn’t always correct as I lie very still when awake but the pics are a fair representation of the last 3 nights.

Perhaps getting off the cheese kick has helped… I guess it takes some time to get out of the system… I hope this trend continues, I certainly felt ready to jump out of bed this morning, instead of dragging myself out. I hasten to add I didn’t jump out, I sat up with my feet on the floor for a second or two before standing in case I took a really bad dizzy spell again.

Did the stair runs then went to CrossFit for the team workout. Its our CrossFit Box 4th birthday this weekend so they had a daily poll running throughout the week to see what peeps fav exercises were and designed the workout round that. I really enjoyed it plus my daughter came this morning and we worked in same team.

After this great wod my daughter and I went to the local town… needed the bank to sort out some paperwork with her but it was shut, don’t ya just hate that when it happens… should have stayed where we do CF because I know that one is open Saturdays never mind we can do it next week and she was able to get to the fishmongers and a couple of other shops. I manGed to pick up some rubber twine to tie round the greenhouses ready for next blustery storm!

Got home and put some pork medalion chops on for brunch at noon. Had all 4 as they are a bit smaller than what I usually get but were reduced. They needed to be eaten as I am not so keen on them cold. Cooked them in beef dripping as there wasn’t a whole lot of fat on them which is probably why I don’t generally go for medalions.

I picked up some kippers and a small end fillet of salmon at the fishmongers as I don’t think i have any in freezer now and fancied some. I will have some duck eggs poached with the salmon either this evening or tomorrow. I had got a rump steak out of freezer for my dinner so I will see how I feel… May have that too hahaha.

(Karen) #153

@JJFiddle never heard of an omelette made with flour, cant think of anything worse. Cant even stand them cooked with cream and cafes/bistros tend to like to cook them with cream as they think its special! Yuk… I always ask for it to be done without cream. Never heard of a speech contest either??? Well done for abstaining from the pork rinds and sour cream!

@Shinita … I like to be asleep at 1am lol:smile::smile:

I have imagination and sensitivity towards things (meat with SUGAR) but I still can relate. It’s a super crazy idea…

We had lunch. I tasted the stew (it’s fine*) but mostly played with the garbage part  Lower legs have all those chewy things, well sometimes it’s not much, now it was much and anyway, it was easier on Alvaro not to trim those parts too much. So I had 560g beef with lots of chewy parts in it to fry. So I fried it  A pretty big part was still not edible to me but I play with meat. Tiny bones or chewy things, it’s fun for me to work for my meat. Alvaro hates that. So it’s all mine and the really not human food part is for the cats (of course I could cook it into oblivion and eat most but I don’t need that. my soups will be great with heavily cooked turkey bones, I plan to eat turkey a lot in the future).
I said, looking at some very hard parts that the dog will eat what the cats can’t… But the cats thought otherwise. Powerful little animals, cats. Unless it’s a bigger bone, they handle it. (They can’t eat lizards though, they keep catching them, tearing them, the silly Tofu even kind of eats them but it can’t stay down.) In summer they gets fish heads from the fishermen… IDK why is a fish head is a source of joy but cats are more hedonistic than me and their taste is different too
Of course I ate eggs but not as many as before.

*fine but TINY! The original beef slab was big but the stew always gets so tiny! Alv said “stew is a small amount of food”. Then I daydreamed about making a new, bigger fireplace outside (after the old chimney part we use breaks apart, finally) and buying a bigger cauldron… It is a rainy day so Alvaro cooked inside using our big pressure cooker. The stew is so little compared to it… It always surprises me. About 2.5kg but it’s very little volume in the 8 liter vessel. And it won’t last long either.

(Linda ) #155

Pancake batter in IHOP scrambled eggs and omelets? but you can ask for it to not be used…its supposed to make them fluffier I believe but yuck. But what I think is bad is they don’t tell you on the menu so you can have the choice.

Let the brisket cook in anova oven all night last night after 3 hours in smoker

Cooked up bacon a little bit of sausage and brisket

(Karen) #156

Brisket looks devine, what did you put on the top, is it a rub of spices? and the bacon looks lovely and crispy. Funny but I used to hate crispy bacon… I always wanted bacon done as a flash in the pan I can eat it either way now. When its crispy it is nice as a cold snack. A good whisk is all the eggs need to be fluffy… get some air into them. I’m surprised that batter mix doesn’t make them heavy and flat. Well again I can eat omelette fluffy or flat but not so keen on them plain and since abstaining from cheese it looks like they won’t be on the menu for a while!

(Karen) #157

I got a bit bored this afternoon so decided to brave the busy roads and pop over to Derby, about a 20 minute drive, to Morrisons superstore as I saw on FB a post where someone had picked up an Acer cheap. Dangerous …

Why can’t i just make do with buying one plant??? I don’t know about only filling the freezer once a month, I better make a vow to myself that I will only buy plants once a month too … I have 3 good big planters for the Holly, Maple and Lavender trees but will need some more smaller ones for the other 4 plants/shrubs plus some compost/soil as well :roll_eyes:

I decided to cook the salmon for dinner with 2 poached duck eggs. Not eaten poached eggs in a while and yes the meal was nice but didn’t cut it! As soon as I had eaten it I wanted scrambly eggs so cooked up 2 duck eggs and cooked it in butter. It hit the spot! I think its the texture and saltiness from the butter that does it for me. Loverly

So do I take a walk with my trolley to the retail park for the planters :thinking::thinking::thinking:

(Daisy) #158

About 2 pounds of beef bites (cut up chuck roast) air fried. I wish I’d have eaten them raw, I think I would have enjoyed them more and they would have settled better in my stomach. Cooked fat just doesn’t seem to agree with me anymore! Second picture (or first depending on how they post!) was what I couldn’t eat.

(Karen) #159

You still got through a fair bit!:slightly_smiling_face:

#160
