Aljazeera’s “Obesity:China’s Big Problem”

So much for “The China Study…” :wink:
I know it’s a cultural difference (we lived in Taiwan and Singapore, so I’m familiar with Chinese culture), but it must be so hard for these kids, we know what they’re going through, diet-wise. 6 hours of exercise?!?! The Chinese military version of The Biggest Loser. :frowning:

Just goes to show that food can be a drug. It’s an addiction that you wear on the outside of your body. Wish I knew thirty years ago what I know now.

Thanks for sharing this. I was 94kg at 14 yrs of age (168cm female) and started with meal replacement drinks. This video reminded me of that sad 14 yr old, breaks my heart :broken_heart:

@Nomoreweighting @gingersmommy
I didn’t believe it either…and then I found myself smack in the middle of it, I replaced smoking with food.
We are dealing with emotions by stuffing our faces and the food industry knows that. It’s hard to break that cycle when parents don’t know better (lobbies make sure they don’t know and/or follow advice tailored to the needs of industry) and kids aren’t mature enough to recognize the signs and/or don’t know better, as well.

I gained weight as a kid, as well, I broke my leg and gained 5kg…my mom blamed everyone else, of course, but she wasn’t “smart” enough to recognize that it was an emotional thing. She probably would have sent me to these types of camps, had they existed in our country back then. It’s a vicious cycle :frowning:
