Air Fryer's and NSV!

I am looking to buy an airfryer, our local department store has one that everyone raves about but I am going to spend a wee bit more money on getting a different brand from another store.

It’s 99$, I am not sure I can justify it purely for Keto, so I am justifying it by saying I can make all the things my son loves.

What do you cook in your Air Fryers?

Also, My Mum and my Cousin are both on keto since my facebook posts about extended fasting.
My mum has lost 8kg and my cousin has lost 5kg, and have told me they are now Keto for life! I am so proud of them. I didn’t realise how much knowledge I had retained until they started asking me 500 questions.

That’s awesome about the family. I got nothing on the air fryer. I’ve never been able to wrap my head around the idea, especially when I can fry in delicious tallow and lard.

You bet, just fried some chicken with the skin no coating in lard the other day. Unfortunately, eating high fat and high carbohydrates not a great idea. So i can see why she might want an air fryer for her non-keto family members. My step-daughter has one we purchased for her family at Walmart last Christmas. She loves it but do not remember the brand name.

She cannot do keto as she does not tolerate the fat. She unfortunately had gastric bypass about six years ago way before I discovered keto. Wish I had a keto time machine and could go back and introduce her to keto. :frowning:

Honestly I am fat adapted, so I keep my dietary fat intake low now as I’d prefer that to come from my body.

And I am so sick and tired of making 3 dinners lol, one for myself, one for my child and one for my partner.

The airfryers look so easy to use with minimal clean up.

So just looking for ideas on what I could ALSO use it for Keto

Is there any scientific evidence at all that eating lower fat somehow means that fat comes from your body? I have yet to see any, and when when Jimmy Moore and Dr. Limansky did a test of Ted Naiman’s 3:1 protein:fat ratio (and reduced calorie) diet, they both HATED it.

Having said that, I’ve transitioned to eating higher protein, lower fat meats, most days, but I also eat higher fat meats/meals at times. Nonetheless, to me, this “if I eat less fat, the fat will come from my body” has no reasonably scientific basis.

Furthermore, there’s a theory now that saturated fat causes a switch in your fat cells to turn them insulin resistant. So, if you fry in tallow (“high” in saturated fat), you’d be improving all your family’s health because they’d eat less. At least that’s the theory.

It’s a much more complex story than “if I eat less fat, the fat will come from my body”.

If you have a Costco, they have one for $49.99!!
I make wings, drums, and I have attempted cheese sticks…
I was going to try burgers or steaks just to see what happens. I bet pork belly would be FAB in an air fryer. Let me know what you make and how it works!!

I use my air fryer for chicken, steaks, pork bellies, etc. I will
either spray or rub each piece of meat with a little coconut
oil before entering cooking cycle. I have found it easier to
use and meats will come out crispy outside and moist on
inside. You just need to learn how long to cook and be sure
and turn the meat 1/2 through cook cycle.

PS if you put in aluminum foil in bottom pan before
placing frying (inner pan) inside it will catch the
meat drippings and makes cleanup super easy. I
little water placed in bottom of foil when cooking
chicken will keep drippings from smoking.

I’m sure there is plenty but I do not have time to find you a reference right now as I’m at work, hopefully someone else can interject.

And considering I’ve lowered my fat intake and have been dropping pounds like tomorrow, then yeah I would. Stored fat is energy, it makes entire sense to me.

Why would I keep eating a high fat diet when I can access my own body’s stored energy and have amazing results?
