I have been keto for about 8 months and loved it however I recently started bodybuilding . My trainer told me that keto would not allow me to achieve the kind of mass I want so I switched to a standard bodybuilding diet consisting of eggs spinach berries oatmeal sweet potatoes rice and lean meat this was 2 weeks ago. I feel terrible every joint in my body hurts including my jaw and elbows…I have no energy I basically feel like I am dying. Is this a normal reaction to going off Keto?
After keto body aches
It seems unusual in that it has lasted a full two weeks. I know that after I had been keto for about a year I ate a piece of birthday cake & the next day felt as though I’d been hit by a bus. I returned to eating keto so have no long term experience I’m afraid.
Perhaps the ‘standard bodybuilding diet’ isn’t for you or you have an intolerance to something in your new diet? Have you checked out Ketogains for keto eating/body building advice?
Do you always change your routines because other people tell you to?
Have you done significant research into not being able to improve muscle mass on a ketogenic diet?
I think you should do your own research. There are many Keto athletes who are ripped as f*ck and got that way because of Keto.
I would not change my WOE because someone else who had a significant interest in me eating carbs told me to.
One other possibility is that it’s form/muscular related - I get jaw pain from a tight sternocleidomastoid &/or trapezius. Check out this trigger point guide http://www.triggerpoints.net/
Of course the lack of energy could be diet or overtraining… Either way it doesn’t sound like this new plan suits you.
