Advice please

Right so for the best part of 3 weeks I’ve dramatically reduced my food intake but my gut seems more distended than ever. How is this possible?

My last 7 days have looked like this, and pretty much refelect my consumptionover the past 3 weeks:

BPC = 50ml dbl cream, 25g butter, 25g coconut oil

MONDAY
BPC
2 coffees with 20 ml double cream
2 teas with 20 ml double cream
Lots of water

TUESDAY
3 coffees with 20ml double cream
2 teas with 20ml double cream
2 rashers of Bacon
1 Sausage
Lots of water

WEDS
BPC
1 Coffee with 20ml double cream
3 teas with 20ml double cream
Lots of water

THURS
2 coffees with 20ml double cream
1 tea with 20ml double cream
3 small homemade meatballs
Lots of water

FRIDAY
BPC
2 coffees with 20ml double cream
3 teas with 20ml double cream
1 Onion Bhaji
Small portion beef Madras
Lots of water

SAT
2 Coffees with 20 ml double cream
2 teas with 20ml double cream
2 McD’s double cheeseburgers (no ketchup or bun)
Lots of water

SUN
2 coffees with 20ml double cream
4 teas with 20ml double cream
Lots of water

Looking back on it now it does seem rather extreme, could I have sent myself into starvation mode?

If so can you recommend what I should be doing differently?

Ps
I just don’t feel hungry anymore but I’m really quite depressed at my lack of progress

Why have you done this? It doesn’t sound particularly healthy unless you’re already fat adapted, have a very large amount of body fat to spare, and experience fasting.

Thanks for your thoughts on this Larry.

The first couple of days aside (20 days ago) I just followed the eat when hungry mantra to be honest with you.

I’m probably around 55-60 pounds overweight at the moment and guessed that eating when hungry was a sign I was fat adapted?

I cooked steak for the family tonight and couldn’t bear to look at let alone eat the the nice Ribeye I’d taken out of the fridge for myself.

Could I have backed myself into some sort of eating disorder maybe?

Oh and I forgot to mention; after easing up and probably out of ketosis over Christmas I have been under 20g carbs since the first week in January so I guess I could be fat adapted. I certainly find I no longer need a snooze during the day/early evening and I have loads more energy.

On a few of the days you are basically fat fasting, the rest not much more than that.

I would try not consuming so much fat in essentially liquid form. I would try eating fattier proteins, cut back to one BPC per day and cut out all the extra drinks with added fat in them. I bet your hunger returns, as you aren’t consuming that many calories. I would also try to get more nutrition in there. If you want to eat veggies, try a salad with eggs, and a nice dressing like olive oil and vinegar. Throw some chicken thighs in there, maybe a lettuce wrapped burger with some tomato, pickle, and avocado. Get your protein where it needs to be for your body. I agree with @larry the way you are eating now doesn’t seem particularly healthy…

Thanks for the comprehensive reply Ross.

I agree it doesn’t look healthy but what can I do if I’m not hungry?

I mean even the couple of naked cheeseburgers I mentioned above I couldn’t finish.

Ps
I’ve just forced myself to eat half a scotch egg :see_no_evil::joy:

What were you eating prior to 20 days ago?

(Ross Daniel) #7

Speaking from my experience only, I know that when I drink more than one good sized BPC I’m not hungry for hours. There is just so much fat is satiates me like it’s going out of style. I’m at roughly 15% BF so I don’t have a ton of stores to use as supplementation. I personally would not be able to eat much protein if I drank multiple drinks with fat in them all day. That plus all the water (which is good to drink for sure) will keep your stomach busy. This is my theory as to why you aren’t hungry.

I say change it up some, and see how you fare. If it doesn’t work, drop back and punt.

Prior to this I was eating Rib eye steaks, Bacon, eggs, cheese, Avocados, Cauliflower, Spinach, Rocket, Mushrooms, tomatoes, butter, coconut oil, olive oil and the occasional handful of pistachio nuts.

Not a great deal of choice I agree but in order to get out of my fat and unhappy place I have learned to treat food as fuel and in the main have broken all emotional ties with the stuff.

You make a good point about the liquid fats in both your posts Ross. Maybe if I cut down on those I’d get pangs for real food?

Maybe I should half my double cream in drinks and add some almond milk or similar?

I would eliminate all of the liquid calories. Try and get your fats from natural wholesome foods. Make sure you are getting adequate proteins.

I cut out the BPC this morning and had a double sausage and egg sans muffin and I’ve actually been hungrier throughout the day.

On the good news front I was weighed today and am now down to 17 and half stone (245 pounds) which since I started this woe is total weight loss of at least 50 pounds (I never weighed myself beforehand as it depressed me) but more likely closer to 60💪🏼

I’m well chuffed with that given i only saw the light around 6 months ago :grimacing:
