Advice for getting back on track after carb filled vacation

(Jenni) #1

Hi there.
I’ve been on Keto for approx 3 months, then we went on a vacation and things slipped a little, then slipped, then slipped some more, and well, maybe some of you know how that goes. Back from vacation I felt gross and unmotivated. I have been trying for a couple weeks now, and just can’t seem to get back into ketosis. I know its a long shot, but just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get back on track. Does it take longer after a carb-fest than when I first started out? I just feel stuck. I even tried some Intermittent fasting and that hasn’t helped. Not ready or willing to give up, just feeling frustrated.

Fasting is defiantly the quickest way to get back on track but it can be super tough if the carb cravings have come back.

Just treat it like when you first started. Limit the carbs and fill up on fat. BACON AND EGGS.

Since you’ve been there already, you get back pretty quick. You might have a little keto flu again but it lasts like a day instead of weeks.

Don’t sweat it. This is a lifestyle, and life happens.

I did the same thing. First half of my vacation I was as careful as possible, but knew I was still getting too many carbs just by the way I was feeling. So I just gave up the last half. Then coming back was really hard to get back in.

I ended up doing the bacon thing. All bacon, only bacon for a full week.

It helped that I’ve been on a pretty strict budget since spending too much on vacation, so after buying a weeks worth of bacon, I didn’t have $ to buy extra food even if I wanted to go off the rails. But after a couple days I didn’t want to anyway.

Though I did want more variety in Keto friendly foods by the end of the week.

I imagine you got back to keto after a week of bacon!
