Adverse effects with alcohol after fat adapted

(Jeremiah ) #1

Hi fellow ketonians! Gods blessings to you today! Hey I’m just trying to figure out why I feel like I have the key flu again or kicked out of ketosis because I’ve been fat adapted for close to two months now and the only difference is that I hadn’t fasted for a couple of weeks then started to do 24 hr fasts the past couple of days. The last night I had two shots of Ginn with some sparkling water and and today I broke my 24 hr fast keto style. So I’m thinking about tomorrow breaking the fat with a small amount of carbs like 7 grams like a rice cake then wait about 30 min and eat keto to avoid the glucose drop when I break my fast with straight keto foods. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! God bless

You should not experience a glucose drop, if you need additional glucose your body will make it.
But likely you will not and use the keto food as immediate energy.

It is recommended you break it with something small and easy on the stomach like a handful of macedamia nuts, or some other keto food. Remember, people in the wild did not have rice cakes they just broke their fast with whatever food they had on hand/normal food. Your normal is keto so I would advise you stick with that.

edit: you are probably just more sensitive to alcohol now, it is a common side effect. Did you drink alcohol while fasting? That would make me feel pretty terrible

Thanks for the reply but I’m still trying to figure out why I have keto flu symptoms. Maybe that alcohol depleted my electrolytes completely! I just supplemented with some pink Himalayan salt and am a little better.

Could be low electrolytes or dehydration. Or could be something you ate at the same time…
What kind if keto flu symptoms are you having?

Maybe it was just a plain ol’ hangover? I’m a lot more sensitive to alcohol now…

I feel better now but I’m pretty sure it’s a combination of fasting and drinking then eating. My body just got shocked but after forcing the fluids with Himalayan salt I felt allot better

I’m still trying to learn the understanding of my own body and the satiety factor. This is a very nutrient and fat dense diet. Such a change even after two months.
