Acetone intolerance with long-term OMAD?

#1

I’ve been doing OMAD for almost 5 years now. A few months ago I began to notice hives on my torso. My doctor says that according to his tests I’ve been chronically exposed to acetone.
I’ve ruled out any external sources of acetone in my household, let alone chronic ones.
Is it possible that I’ve developed acetone intolerance due to the chronic OMAD & ketone production?

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #2

I suppose it’s possible, but how might acetone in your blood have gotten onto your skin?

If this really is from your ketone bodies, it makes you a very rare outlier indeed. Many people have been keto or carnivore for decades and I’ve never heard of this before.

What about the possibility of oxalates? Oxalic acid is a toxin contained in many foods, and it can cause irritation, too.

And lastly, what are you eating during your one meal a day? Perhaps the answer lies there?

P.S.–You might wish to consult an allergist and have a skin test done, to verify that it really is a sensitivity to acetone and not anything else. That would save you from looking for a solution to the wrong problem.

I suppose if you’ve been doing keto for a long time, it would make perfect sense that you have been exposed to acetone. We would probably all test positive for that. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s what’s causing your hives, though.

I"m largely carvnivore. Grass -fed beef or fish, oragnic eggs. A little sweet potatoes or gluten-free bread. Also raw grass-fed beef fat.
I used to get different hives from food (egg whites, garlic) but they are gone now after I stopped eating them.
