Interesting.

HbA1c is subject to individual variability, because it’s a marker of how glycated red blood cells get over their life … and we all have different lifespans for our erythrocytes.

But yes I would expect that sickle cell anaemia would drastically affect the glycation rate and the lifespan of cells.
