Below 5.7 is considered “normal.” 5.7 to 6.4 = prediabetic. Above 6.4 = diabetic.

Depends on where you are…
in the UK for examlpe "normal’ would be below 6% or 41 mmol/m
Pre diabetes is considered 6% to 6.49% 42-47 mmol/m
Diabetic (Type 2) 6.5% or more 48 mmol/l or higher

As I recall, Richard made the point that at about or above 5.5 the Beta cells in the pancreas were being destroyed at a faster rate than they could be replaced. Sooo, in reality, above 5.5 should be considered diabetic, with above around 5.2 considered pre diabetic.
