A year in the life!

(Blyss (Old @Charmaine)) #1

Last year this time, my keto journey began! I didn’t buckle down with the fat until May. I was afraid, to be honest. But when I finally got over the fear and upped my fat reasonably, it proved beneficial to my workouts and energy levels throughout the day. While I wish that I wasn’t afraid from the start, I don’t regret the lesson learned in the importance of fat. I’ve also embraced pork bacon and chilled with the potatoes.

And really the most impactful group of teachers and support has been the 2 Keto Dudes fam! Thanks y’all!

I think it would be rare for someone to not be afraid of fat after all the conditioning we have had about it for the past several decades. Congrats to you for getting past that and being open-minded about the possibilities.

When I first investigated keto in 2013 I really struggled with the idea but doing a lot of research and remaining curious helps a lot.

Not being afraid of fat was a HUGE issue for me also. Honestly, it still makes me nervous but every time I feel that niggling I close my eyes and say “leap of faith” which I think Carl said on one of the podcasts.

Congratulations and well done!

Not to mention the issue of eating so much meat. I was vegetarian from age 18-35 or so and then started eating meat, but not much. I was actually a “carboterian”. I’ve been working on this way of eating for a few years and finally now am free of carb cravings, getting consistently high blood ketone readings, make and like having my own bone broth, and done a bit of fasting. My mental outlook and short term memory (I’m 53) have all improved. I’ve eaten liver pate and have come to like it. Still skittish about offal…and since I’m of scottish descent I’m thinking I’m going to have to eventually partake of haggis…

Thanks y’all!

Yeah, I’m glad I got over the fat issue more than anything else. I’m looking forward to what the next year brings. I’ve experimented plenty and am excited to keep going and see what the results will be.
