A reason why your body weight varies when you travel

#1

… and why body weight scales are a biomarker to evolve away from as health improves.

Ha! Illinois/Indiana/Ohio, Franko - my old stomping grounds, being a northeastern Ohio boy for much of my life… Unreal.

Isn’t this wrong? “Newton’s apple (and you) weigh 0.5% more at the poles than at the equator.” If there’s a bulge at the equator, doesn’t this mean there’s more mass there, so therefore you’d weigh more?

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #4

Apparently, the force depends on the distance between the centres of mass. So at the equator we are a tad further from the centre of the earth, and hence weigh a tiny bit less.

This must explain why I always weigh more at the doc’s. My scale is on the equator…?

Sorry partner but those variations are on the scale of millgals—- a thousandth of a centimeter per sec per sec.

Total gravitational pull is like 9.8 metered/s/s or 980 cm/s/s so even a variation of 100 Milligal is like 0.1 cm/s/s and 0.1 divided by 980 doesn’t show up on anybody’s scale used to measure peoples’ weight…

Of course i assume you meant this to be humorous!!

Sorry but way global planet crazy over my head.
my weight fluxes cause I eat damn fast food burgers on the road :exploding_head:

Cause I am not drinking enough water?
Cause I am eating restaurant filled chem. crap?
Who knows what that was cooked in?

I think that applies to ANY area of the world I would be currently located in :smirk: but if I fly to ??? and weigh 1/2 lb more, OK I will remember that FB said I would be heavier in this realm of the globe and then I can relax, be calm, it is all cool :100:

I am moving there RIGHT now!
