A really good and good for you mayoannise?

Is there a recipe for mayonnaise that doesn’t use Avocado Oil or a seed oil? Just can’t do avocado oil!

You can use bacon drippings…

I used to use olive oil, now I use a mix of olive and avocado. An egg to room temp, mustard powder, a touch of lemon or lime juice, salt, pepper and a dash of cayenne, mix well with immersion blender or food processor, slowly add in 3/4 cup of oil, blending as you go till it emulsifies

I have never had avacado oil. Is it really that bad ?

I buy Avocado mayonnaise at Costco and I like it very much, I make a dressing with it, extra virgin olive oil and some spices for my salads, to put on fish, vegetables, etc and I think it is very nice. I haven’t bought the oil though.

Actually, my GF has some, so maybe I have tried some in something and don’t even know ?

@judydelong You can use any oil you want to use. I’m even tempted to try lard, warmed enough to mix.

I love avocado oil. It has a very mild, almost non-existent flavour. It only develops an off taste as it ages and starts to go rancid. Then it starts to develop a musty odor and flavour. Maybe the OP had old oil.

You could use a light olive oil (they vary a lot in flavour depending on region and pressing) or perhaps macadamia oil?

I use a mix of those two - you get a nice hint of the buttery macadamia flavour :yum:
