A few more questions from a newb of keto

5 weeks in I’ve posted in the past about digestion and ketones and thanks everyone for the help! A bit of a rant I used to visit the keto reddit and ask similar questions and all I would get is hate. Seriously just asking a question like “my iron is up how do I avoid liver disease in future” got me responses like "shut up and quit or just press forward (barely a response) to “your a hypochondriac”…gor worrying about one of the most common diseases. Anyway I eventually got locked out of my own posts because I’d push back against these ridiculous responses. Needless to say I’m not there anymore you all have been 100x more helpful.

Anyway I have a few more questions and hopefully dont get yelled at:p Haha. A few of them are

-im very interested in cyclical keto. Josh axe praises is and I believe our ancestors would have dipped in and out of ketosis regularly. I just want some thoughts on it or experiences or science.
-my ketones were up for awhile. 3 weeks around 1-2. Now that I’m 5 weeks in I wake up at .3 mid day is .8-1.2 and end of day is .5. Is this me getting kicked in and out of ketosis?(I have blood meter). My net carbs are 25g and lower usually around 15-20
-digestion update my IBS forced (through intense pain all day) about 4lbs of stool out. All of it good colour and consistency. But it kinda is proof that this diet is backing me up. I’m gonna try less veggies and magnesium citrate daily and see if it fixes. Still is a dealbreaker for me if it doesnt fix but I’ll stick to this a little longer
-how do I know if I’m.fst adapted? Not in ketosis but fully far adapted and my body has transitioned? Due to digestion and ketone levels I dont think I am yet.

Anyway thanks for any responses. I’m a natural skeptic and curious so I tend to wanna know EVERYTHING Haha.

I would guess that ancestors living in seasonal climates would take advantage of summer/fall fruit. With no means to preserve or extend shelf life I would think these would be in short limited bursts and likely limited to small berries. The rest of the year full on keto I am guessing.

You are well within a nutritional ketosis range. Your level of ketones vary according to energy demands. They might be lowest upon waking up and after a meal and highest when you are fasting.

The process can take a month, two months or longer, depending on how discombobulated your hormones are. Some clues as to how fat adapted you have become are:

Are my energy levels consistent?
Can I go long periods of time without excessive hunger?
Do I have good control of my cravings?
If I reduce how much fat I am eating, does it negatively affect my hunger?

At about two months I was able to fast for 2-3 days very easily. My hunger practically vanished and some days I was eating 1000 calories just by following my hunger. My body was perfectly content to burn my butt instead of beef.

As long as your not eating much sugar and keeping protein moderate and depending on amount ratios of dietary fat or body being oxidized, it could read 0.0 and you would still be in ketosis meaning your body is using all of those ketones for fuel that’s why your not seeing them.

Your ketone readings could be 4.0 one minute and 0.2 the next depending on movement or physical exertion simply by walking around.

“…Resistant starch has several beneficial effects on your colon. Due to its therapeutic effects on the colon, resistant starch may aid various digestive disorders. This includes inflammatory bowel diseases like ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, constipation, diverticulitis and diarrhea (21). Jul 3, 2018 …More

…and NO it will not knock you out of ketosis!

If ketones are consistently low on blood ketone meter and when you test with a pee stick it is testing negative or trace then you are truly fat adapted in my opinion. (after 27 weeks or 6 months on a ketogenic diet/lifestyle)
