8 weeks still haven’t grasped the real diet

Okay so I’ve been doing what I feel is the Keto diet. I had one day where I ate an ice cream and another day where I really wanted a burger and fries. Both times I felt awful afterwards. Headaches and stomach aches and so I really am enjoying the diet. Here’s the thing, I don’t stick to 25 carbs. That to me is unreal or unheard of. Now how many carbs I take in, no clue there either. I eat three eggs, with either bacon or sausage and cheese and tomatoes in a omelette for breakfast. For dinner, usually meat, and some salad with cheese, ranch dressing (not very much but enough to taste) and if I have some avacado. Then for my chocolate cravings I found some sugar free low carb chocolate pudding and a table spoon of peanut butter. This is my daily intake. Every day and I have progressively lost weight. Today I am 32lbs less than my beginning weight. I have no clue as to say if I am or am not in Ketosys, but I feel great! No potatoes, rice, pastas, or bread. Besides the two cheats. If someone can make a suggestion that is useful that would be great.

Depending on the Ranch dressing and how low carb the pudding actually is, you can’t be far off the 20g net carbs. Well, not counting for the two cheats you had that is.

The fact that you’ve had the negative reaction though tells me you are either fat adapted or very close. And that you were low enough carbs to be in ketosis most of this time.

The 20g’s is really the lowest necessary to insure almost anyone can get into ketosis. Most people will be able to do it with higher carbs, but we still recommend staying at or below that level for the adaptation phase, just to ensure the quickest route to adaptation. But like I said, it sounds like you’re already there or right in the cusp, so I’d keep doing what you’re doing. Minus the fries that is, and maybe try a Keto ice cream recipie instead.

KCKO

Well the pudding has 2g of carbs, as for the peanut butter I worry about that because it does have sugar and carbs but at the amount I don’t feel I’ve been reckless at all

PS. I don’t have a Keto ice cream recipe? Shoot me a recipe and I’d be happy to try it

Search this forum. I’ve not made any, but I’ve seen a few recipies floating around.

Look for no sugar added all natural peanut butter. I absolutely love taking extra dark chocolate (anything over 70% cocoa) and topping it with a little peanut butter. Perfect dessert to end a meal with. But get away from the sugar added stuff.

You can always search this site for recipes, or search the Food section. I’m sure you will find many good ones. As for your Burger and Fries, just have the Burger without the bun, adding anything you like with it. And you can also make some Zucchini Fries which are pretty good. (One of my favorites is a nice burger with some Rao’s Marinara Sauce. (It’s only 4 g (3 net) for a 1/2 cup - I use 1/4) Mozzarella cheese and butter fried Mushrooms on top, plus seasonings

Years before I ever heard of about the Keto Lifestyle, I never was a bread person. Preferring to eat those foods on a plate, and not a bun. I also didn’t care for starchy foods like rice, potatoes, etc. so I didn’t find it too hard to switch over.

Do you have any idea as to how much of each?

What you are eating sounds very keto to me. Your results speak for themselves. KCKO!

Well I know but I don’t have any ketone meters and I am not counting any calories or watching what I eat. I just anything and everything except the four Keto killer groups. lol

Neither do I, neither will I. Not worth it in my opinion. The goal here is not registering spilled ketones on a meter, it is burning bodyfat. Looks like you are doing that pretty well!

That’s a good thing. Two out of two…

Ooh, I think you are… you seem to know what you’re eating. You may not be tracking ie recording every mouthful in an app, but you are watching what you eat. By dropping those major carbs you have done 80% of the distance. If you ever stall and want to go lower, you may need to be stricter.

But you’re doing well, keep it up!
