So I started in early February, lost a VERY SLOW 10 lbs. Around week 6, felt that things were finally happening, feeling great, feeling thinner, etc. Now week 8, feel extremely bloated and not doing well. Haven’t changed anything. NEVER go about 30 carbs. Feel like constipation over the last couple of weeks has been the biggest problem so been on probiotics for about 1 1/2 weeks. NEED ADVICE!!! Don’t want to quit because I’ve done well so I need help! Anyone else go through this?
8 weeks in and need motivation to NOT quit
As a female there are lots of things that can cause this, hormones are the issue. I can put on 8 lbs in water weight at certain times of the month.
You should also start thinking about this as a long term process. Remember that this is not a linear process, it takes time and the trend is your friend. It’s not about the momentary blip you have to look at it over several months.
i become constipated when i don’t get enough salt. how much are you consuming daily? and at eight weeks in, the bloated feeling may be a sign that you’re close to being fat-adapted, if you’re not already there. your body is probably becoming fairly efficient at tapping into your fat stores for energy at this point, and it trying to tell you that it wants to do that. try eating a bit less at mealtime and see how you’re feeling afterwards. if you’re not left hungry after reducing your calories a bit, this is probably a good indicator of fat-adaption, and should also help with the bloating issue
Being constipated will make you feel horrible for sure. Magnesium can help with that, and maybe try a day or two of MCT oil on or in something. That certainly moves things for me. I bet if you can get things moving you will feel much better and definitely less bloated.
Please don’t quit! Get over this hump and get back to feeling great.
It took me a year to lose twenty pounds. Hang in there and eat healthy. I had the runs for a few months. Everyone is different. Give it a few months.
as mentioned above check your electrolytes might be very low.
if you are bloated it is obvious digestion problem
first thing is electrolytes.
second is stomach acid
third is digestive enzymes
Your “slow” weight loss isn’t an issue. 10 lbs in 4-6 weeks is appropriate. Keep calm, give it time. Your constipation can be a problem, enough to make some people quit. It’s common when we drastically change our diet. It takes our body a while to adjust. Per Dr Bosworth: drink salty water and eat cabbage. She also suggests a spoonful of dry chia seeds with water every 2-4 hours. If none of that works, Milk of Magnesia. There is a Keto-aid recipe on this forum that I like which would help you get some salts and some magnesium in your water. Good luck.
You have lost over a pound a week. Think about that, would be over 50 pounds a year, incredible pace. It may seem slow to you, but is an impressive number. The scale also doesn’t tell the entire story, take measurements. I’ve lost almost 70 pounds, but been in a stall for 3 months now, but I have lost over an inch on my waist. The scale doesn’t tell the whole story.
