5 weeks in ... trying to keep motivated

#1

I am starting week 6 and am a little disappointed with the stall in weight loss. Week one I lost 7 pounds, week two nothing, week three 2 then nothing since. The last 2 weeks I have seen a reduction of 6 cm in my waist though. I understand you can lose inches not weight. But I really do need to lose weight as well.

I’ve been enjoying the diet and can imagine eating this way for life but it is key for me to lose weight. I have read a lot and get a lot of info from diet doctor. I’ve been measuring ketones with keto Stix and they almost always show ketones within the desirable range. I haven’t cheated once but I do have sugar free gum.

I’ve also been doing 16:8 IF most days.

Does anyone have any advice? Is this normal? I am a 46 yr female and I’ve read we are the hardest group due to hormones etc.

How much do you have to lose? It is harder the closer you get!

Firstly …congrats on your weight loss so far :ok_hand:t2: You’re not gaining weight so that’s great!!! Slow progress …is still progress!!! It took me a month to lose…wait for it…1 pound!!! My body looked different but the scale showed a 1 pound loss. It’s only when I cut out dairy that the weight started to come off …scale wise. I have about 30 lbs to lose so it’s gonna be a lot slower than someone with 100lbs to lose. Your body could be off repairing things you can’t see. Your body is smart and you’ll drop the weight when your body is ready, it’s probably just not a priority right now. Be patient…when you are fat adapted…that’s when the magic happens :two_hearts: KCKO

The Ketostix are not very accurate.
They are measuring ketones you are wasting out of your urine as your body has not learnt to use the ketones it’s producing.
You are close, though.
What you are experiencing is the PISS period, the post induction stall syndrome and it’s completely normal.
A lot of people are dissapointed at this point but the idea is to keep going, you did not put this weight on over night, you will not take it off either.
The best thing to do is be patient and keep doing what you’re doing. Do not go changing anything right now. It’s clear from the ketostix comment you don’t quite understand what’s happening there so I suggest you do some more research and stay committed.

Thanks, I would like to lose at least 28lbs. At that point I will see how I feel.

Thanks for the encouragement. Since discovering this forum yesterday and posting this , I realise now just how common this is. The thing is everyone asks me each week… did you lose? And I feel a bit of a prat when I’ve waxed lyrical about how fab the diet is etc etc As you say I am super determined so I will just carry on.

Thanks, I’m learning every day. I’m like a kid with a new toy!

It can be very exciting, especially when the scale starts moving

“The scale is only one indication of progress. I’m not expecting to lose the weight overnight.”

Also, are you eating enough?

Why, yes! i lost 6cm off my waist! Or, yes! I lost most of the mental fog! Or, yes! Im losing a lot of inflammation! etc. You can lose other things besides scale weight that you can brag about.

I follow a lot of the recipes on diet doctor and also some recipes fromCarolyn Ketchum. I eat a good lunch and evening meal following the weights listed. I’m trying not to snack. I’ve stopped having breakfast as I only ever ate breakfast on the advice of other diets. I’ve never been bothered so it works well with the IF 16:8. Does this sound like enough food?

Just wanted to share. This morning I’ve lost a pound and 2 more centimetres off my waist. Just the extra motivation I needed

Sometimes we are close to giving up not knowing how close we are to the reward for all our hard work!
