Day 2 and would like to know what to expect
5 day fast
Not much information to go on. Depends upon on few factors - how many fasts done in the past, whether you have been eating keto prior; wheter or not know you are fat adapted to mention a few. Regardless, day 2 can be the most challenging. Try and keep busy, keep fluid intake up; Check out Zorn Fast for Ketoaide recipe for electrolytes. Check out all the other forums - especially under the Fasting section. You will see lots of comments of how folks manage EF. Go as long as it feels ok. If you don’t get to day 5, no biggie. Just eat keto and give it a go another time. Keep calm and keto on! (KCKO).
I’ve done 24hr and 36hr fast before. I eat No carb and not sure about what level if any of ketosis. Probably have too much protein. Blood sugar levels are a concern. What should my numbers be waking and post exercise as the fast progresses?
I’m sure it varies for everyone, but I tend to have the same morning spike when I’m fasting as when I’m feasting, but my levels tend to be in the low to mid 90s during the day and evening when I fast, versus 100-110 when I feast. But that still beats my pre-diabetic levels I was at before starting Keto.
Lost @3&1/2 lbs first day of fast. Only lost less than 1/2 lb the second day. Blood sugar is 102. About 5 less than yesterday morning. Last meal was 9:30 pm Thursday night. Meal was a plate of almonds walnuts and pecans covered with sharp cheddar and pepperoni.Egg nog and almond milk during the night. Probably had last glass at @2am. I guess technically my fast has been for @54hrs ?
I started my fast a few hours before you (I’m about to hit 60 hours). I found hours 42 to 48 to be really difficult to not think about food. I wasn’t hungry, just tired. I kept thinking I should either eat or sleep. I woke up this morning and all the food thoughts / desire was gone. Out of curiosity, did you run into anything similar as you approached 48 hours?
Last evening was difficult. Cooking smells in my kitchen were tempting. I had expected my weight to plummet along with my blood sugar. I’m a bit perplexed.
Sleep has been a little better. Not getting up to eat and go to the bathroom helps. I had a long workout yesterday. I’m wondering if that stalled my weight loss ?
Last night (Saturday) I weighed the same as I did that morning. I woke up this morning down about 2 1/2 pounds, but I’m skeptical that most of it isn’t water weight after sleeping 11 hours. I weight lifted on Friday and went on a 3.5 mile walk yesterday morning, so I’m right there with you wondering if exercise is negatively impacting how the body views the fast. I hope today goes well for you!
1/2 lb heavier but blood glucose level is 99. Started out 119 on Thursday morning. Day 4 tomorrow. That’s when the magic happens??
One lb less than yesterday. Will test blood sugar tonight. Feel great. No hunger pains. Working while fasted so far so good.
