Hello Everyone!

I am new here and extremely excited after reading so many posts. Last year I completed a 21 day water fast and loved every second of it! This year I was hoping to embark on a 40 day water fast however I was wondering if there is anyone here who would like to join me? If you are worried about going the distance, even if you would just like to join for parts of the fast, I would love to have a teammate.

Hoping everyone is staying safe and healthy also during these times.
Cheers.

Hell I would, I’m starting intermittent fasting next week I’m only two and a bit months but I’m ready. But I’m starting with three days fasting a week, then as I go on 4 days. As I get used to it, I’m sure I could fast for longer. Welcome to the Forum.

My longest fast is 8 days so I can’t join you for the whole 40 but am happily doing 5/2 (fasting on weekdays; eating on weekends). I’m with you 70% of the time…

Hi Bubby1

Thank you! And congratulations on your start to intermittent fasting! I have tried doing the 3 days of fasting a week and I find those days the absolute toughest. You are one committed and strong person!

Hey Countdown2020

How are you liking this method? I find once I break my fast it takes me months to get back into it again so I tend to do the longer ones once a year.

I’m used to it as I used to suffer Anorexia. I did the 40 hour famine at 12.:joy::joy::joy:. But I’m not being silly now. I will eat plenty of calories on food days. I already do OMAD so i fast for 24 to 26 hours each day anyway.

I’m surprised at how easy it is. Provided I truly feast on eating days, with lots of fat, the 5 fasting days are a doddle (I hope I didn’t just jinx myself). Mind you, my why is a bit more motivating than just trying to lose a few pounds. Both my parents died of cancer and keto/fasting is my best chance of avoiding a similar fate (I hope).

Are you doing it to prove you can do it? Or fat loss? If fat loss may want to consider a PSMF instead. Less muscle loss and at least you can still eat.

Well firstly, I am so sorry for your loss. I have a few friends with cancer and I cried so hard when they told me that I almost forgot for a second that I needed to be strong for them. It is truly an ugly disease. It is amazing that you are being pro active and though we may not know each other personally, I pray that you live a long and healthy life.

I’m sure you haven’t jinxed it and I don’t know if there are private messages on here but I would love to chat further about this, if you would like? And to keep each other motivated if we ever feel down .

I don’t know exactly if I am trying to prove it to myself to be honest. And no it’s not for fat loss, I don’t really agree with long term fasts for weightloss because you do end up losing more muscle.

I suppose the reason I had done the 21 day water fast was to detox my body, I had just come back from India completing my yoga teacher training certificate and really wanted to come home and continue cleansing my body based on what I had learned through meditation and yoga philosophy. I am also religious and had wanted to do the 40 days (44/46days) during Lent this year, however one thing led to another and my birthday fell in between the days and my friends threw me a surprise party (I know excuses but I wasn’t going to not celebrate after everything my friends had done for me) So anyways, now that I am off work due to everything that is going on in the world right now, it seems like a good time to refresh and detox. Sorry for the long answer lol

I’m currently taking my masters of arts in psychology and anorexia is a tough. That’s amazing that you are on the road to recovery though and you have a handle on food! Food can be so delicious too! My favourite is watermelon!

Thank you! That’s very kind.
I’ve sent you a PM.

Haha, that’s cool. Seems you have the right mindset for it. I just always ask because I got big into longer fasts, felt awesome… yet lost a lot of muscle and botched my metabolism and still rebuilding it so I get iffy with them now. I do PSMFs a lot and have seemed to have way better luck keeping and even gaining a little muscle with them, but for a real Detox water fast is the way to go.
