@Islandzen Is there any more useless advice than a Dr telling you to lose weight? Then that’s followed up with more drug pushing, because we ALL need to be taking more meds!!!
3rd month in and still struggling with fatigue
Hi Tracy, Hope this true story of mine will make you smile.
I’m 1.58m( 5 feet 2") in height and was obese when I started this journey and new WOE in February. Yet despite being obviously overweight and T1D I could never understand why neither the diabetes nurse or any doctor I saw ever mentioned weight to me.
Until about a month ago when at the surgery for a BP check to do with my HRT I discovered when talking to the nurse that “someone” had mistakenly entered my height as 1.68m (5 feet 6")!!! That made me overweight and she couldn’t understand why I needed to do “keto” (I was bragging about it and trying to re-educate her). She was extremely embarrassed when I asked her what was in the system!! When she corrected the mistake she then understood…… She also wanted to know more about the keto WOE!
This mistake both amused me and annoyed me at the same time, but I did laugh about it for days after with my close friends. Ali
In mid-March this year I stopped on the way home from a visit to my daughter and bought a Cinnabon to take home, a habit I had developed over time. When I got home and unpacked I ate it … and loved it like always!
The next morning I woke up and my stomach was hurting a lot. It turned out that was the moment I decided I had had enough … at 302 pounds.
The first change I made was to get a new doctor … I specifically looked for three things … Internal Medicine (I’m 60) … MD (my DO wasn’t getting it done) … and completed residency 2-4 years ago (so someone recently trained) in a good program. I have been very impressed with his manner and we are working extremely well together.
This might be a good time to restart with a new doctor. You want someone to be honest … and work with you to improve your health … it makes things easier.
When I go back in December we are going to have the Keto talk … I started 10 days ago.
LOL! That’s awesome! I wonder if I can bribe one of the receptionists to add some inches to my height?!
I put pink salt in pretty much everything I drink. Crank, crank, pour. I use a very small squirt of either orange or fruit punch drink spray to off set the slight salt flavor. Low calories might explain feeling tired. Maybe up it a little just see what happens.
The real secret to Keto is that is an elimination diet. Since you’re limiting and tracking food items you eat, you can finally figure out how foods affect you. Maybe diary is causing problems. Maybe nuts are causing problems. Maybe not enough calories is causing you problems. Maybe you should eat more fat in the morning. Maybe you should eat more protein at night. Maybe you’re not drinking enough water. I would say be patient and test theories for at least two weeks. Stay calm and Keto on.

My apologies for not replying sooner; been away! I do understand your frustration but I’ve never used an app throughout my keto journey. I do mentally track my carbs, eat fat to satiety and moderate protein. I’m just not interested myself in being strict except for carbs. I have reached a plateau myself but lots of other stuff going on which has affected me. I continue to eat the ketogenic way 'cos it makes me feel better, if I lose weight that is an extra, super bonus! My hubby took 3 months to become fat adapted but he has finally seen benefits. I don’t track calories at all. I wish you well with your journey, whatever you choose to do. We are all different; what works for one may not work for another. You have to experiment for yourself
