32 net carbs... did I ruin it?

(Emma) #1

Just had an office dinner and had 32 net carbs for the day :weary: I messed up having carrots and hummus! I’m on my difficult days of the month (sorry if it’s tmi) Do you guys think this will set me back too much? I’m planning on doing intermittent fasting tomorrow, hopefully that will help me get back on track!!

No, in my book you didn’t. It’s not ruined until you loose the benefits of the woe, and one day with slightly elevated carbs will not do that. Don’t beat yourself up, make the next meal a good one and move on

Everyone’s carb tolerance is different. When I started out six months ago, I ate between 20-35 net carbs a day and still stayed in ketosis and lost weight. Others find they have to keep under 20 total carbs to stay in ketosis.

In any case, best thing to do is to Keep Calm and Keto On.

Carrots and hummus are pretty mild extravagances compared to binging on pita bread or other dense carbs. Hopefully the hummus was made with lots of extra virgin olive oil and tahini and no sugar. I’m strict about the bad stuff and don’t much sweat the rest and find I’m usually still on track the next day testing ketones. If not, fasting or fat fasting fixes it quick.

Nope…things happen…just move on and all will be just fine.

No.
You are fine.

Just get back on the horse and continue with the ketogenic diet. People slip up from time to time and that is ok, important thing is to not beat yourself up over it.
