3 weeks in and very frustrated

Please forgive the rant. I sometimes get started and forget to stop.

Nah man, that was a good one. :sunglasses::+1::slightly_smiling_face::clap:

So you don’t measure ketones but you weigh yourself?. It sounds from your level of activity that you are starving yourself. This is not a calorie-reduced diet. I would recommend eating a high protein/fat breakfast every morning with zero carbs. This should satiate you until later in the day. Your next meal should have some carbs/protein/fat.

Measure you blood ketones first thing in the morning. Do not start fasting until you are burning ketones. I have found once your are in ketosis then you can do a version of IF.

No I don’t measure my ketones but I don’t think that should have anything to do with weighing myself. What I have learned is that if you are eating at under 20 net carbs, you will lose weight. How will I know, if I don’t weigh myself? I have lost 8 pounds without measuring my ketones as of now. YAY!

I very well could have been not eating enough but I can tell you that I wasn’t starving myself. LOL I don’t have it in me to keep myself from food, even if my life depended on it. :grimacing:

I have been ketoing for almost 2 1/2 months now and have changed it up a lot. I eat 3 meals a day and still have my fatty coffee. I just keep my total net carbs under 20. Other than that, I don’t fast at all yet. I figured I’d wait until I hit a stall or plateau.

Lost 8 pounds of what? Water, muscle mass, or fat, or some combination of all three? By measuring blood ketones and being in ketosis you will primarily lose fat, which I assume is your goal. I like data therefore when I started I want to have a baseline. So I went for a DEXA scan and a blood test. Then again 3 months later, re-test. I lost 20.4lbs of fat and lost 4oz of muscle mass during this period. Every morning for the first month I measured my blood ketones. You should NEVER be hungry on this diet. That is why IF is so easy if you are in ketosis. You never feel like eating.

I am now a dress size smaller so I know I am going in the right direction.

I don’t need endless amounts of data to know that I am indeed going in the right direction.

I don’t remember ever saying I was hungry. I am actually not very hungry at all through out the day. As for fasting, it is not my cup of tea right now.

Thank you for your advice.

:hugs:

I have a KetoMojo and like measuring my glucose and ketones when I am fasting but I NEVER recommend anyone else start testing, even if stalled out for a long time - not necessary at all and can be frustrating like the scale if the numbers don’t meet your expectations.

If you stall out for like 6 weeks or so all you need to do is post what you are eating, when and what meds you are on and folks here can help you tweak something if needed. They don’t need to know your ketone levels to do that.

Thank you, Janie. You guys have helped me out so much, I was so frustrated at the beginning. But I took everyone’s advice and just tweaked little things and have learned to be patient and I am slowly losing again. :hugs:
