3 month plateau tried the Egg fast for 5 days and

(Lori) #1

I am down 6 pounds! I am KETO WOE for 10 1/2 months, been at the same weight ± 5 pounds for 3 months, I was frustrated with myself. After 10 months my focus was getting a little blurred so I decided after reading several peoples posts about the Egg fast to give it a try. It amazed me how quickly going so basic everything fell back into place, no longer hungry and satisfied with butter, eggs and cheese. Not going to lie I almost threw up dinner on the third day as eggs are not my favorite thing to eat! I was so excited to see that loss that I feel very confident that it may be slower…but I will get to my healthy weight! KCKO!!

Whaaaaattttt??? Not liking eggs??? You must resign from keto forthwith!! Sacrilege! :joy::joy::joy:

You might try shorter water fasts instead of egg fasts (especially considering your feelings about eggs).

Much easier than you think.

Hi Rob- I have been considering and researching water fasts. I wasn’t ready to take that plunge (no pun intended) so I wanted give the Egg fast a try.

Eggcellent progress Lori. :slightly_smiling_face:

I know…I know…how can a true Ketoer not like eggs!!! I think that’s one of the biggest reasons I went with it, more to break the stall and not enjoy what I was eating…it was very clear after the first two days that in my regular KETO days I wasn’t getting enough fat…so now that I am back at it I am making a bigger effort to get the fats up!

Would an egg fast be appropriate before being fat adapted? Is the weight loss temporary if you return to regular Keto WOE after?

(Alec) #8

I think yes, absolutely. By eating eggs you are providing great sustenance to your body, and it should be able to take those nutrients up just fine. The point about an egg fast is that it removes any keto guesswork. Your macros are going to be good.

Opinion: no, I don’t think it will be temporary. Unless you didn’t drink during your fast, in which case you would lose water weight, and that would be temporary.

Thank you so much for your help I think this is worth a try for me

I think Alec answered exactly as I would have. I needed a “reset”, I was feeling hungry again between meals, and started snacking. With myself I must have very clear cut lines…so I literally ate 45 eggs, 2-3 sticks of butter, 1 1/2 bricks of cream cheese and 20 cheese sticks. Macros were perfect, I was full and satisfied. it is not advised going any further than 5 days due to certain nutrients you won’t be getting. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Was that 45 eggs over 5 days or 45 eggs a day? Totally serious.

(Lori) #12

OMG!! :nauseated_face:I should have clarified that…it was my total 5 day consumption. So it was a 9 eggs a day. (Again…I am not a fan of eggs so this was a serious undertaking for me!) 3 eggs per meal was all I could eat. I did have gastric bypass in 2004 so I can’t eat more then that at a time. It’s a factor when I have to think about any kind of water fasting, or even OMAD as I can’t “feast”. I am now 26 lbs from my all time lowest adult weight so I am very excited to continue!
