3 day Fast - How should I feast beforehand?

(Daniel Beattie) #1

Hi guys,

Been doing a lot of reading through the forums and general, internet. But still haven’t yet been able to come up with a definite answer on how I should go about this.

I’m currently about 234lb at 6f1. I worked my maintenance calories out to be around 2200calories per day.

I want to experiment with a 3 day fast, but am slightly confused as to what I should be eating (calorie/macro wise) on the lead up to that.

How many calories extra would you eat in a “feast”. Maintenance? More than maintenance?

I’ve been trying to stick to around 1700kcals a day, thats a 500 cal deficit from maintenance.

Over a week (1700*7) thats 11900 cals. If I dont eat for 3 days, should I split that 11900 over the remaining 4 days of the week?

Cheers!

In my opinion feasting is eating as much of the right foods as you want (eat to satiety), counting calories for feasting is an anathema.
Just count carbs, keep them low as possible and let your body tell you when to stop eating otherwise

Are you already eating keto? Fasting will be a lot easier if you’ve made the switch from sugar burner to fat burner.

Forget the calories.

Very low carbs, moderate protein, fat to satiety. Maybe a bit more fat the day before you start an extended fast. That’s it.

What @Barbara_Greenwood said. You are trying to trick your body into thinking everything is ok so it takes longer for fasting to impact your metabolism. I try to get more fat in the day before and the day after I end my fast.

Good luck!

I’m thinking of alternating feasting and fasting, - tonight i’m breaking a 2 days fast (my first), i want to feast for 3 days, fast 3 days, feast 2 days, fast 2 days, and repeat the cycle, maybe mix it up after a full rotation, 4 days feast, 3 days fast… see how things go, i just want to see how my body handles everything… how i feel…
