2nd round

This is my 2nd go with Keto… I lost 30 lbs last year and have been able to keep it off. I’d like to try to lose more so I’m giving it a go again thinking it would be easy like it was before but I find it difficult to lose the weight. I’m not doing anything differently than I did last year. Anyone find it harder to start again after stopping?

Besides maybe motivation I think it is much more easy. My first week of keto and omad was brutal, I fealt pain. Today I may say I am stuck in low carb low motivation not in ketosis maintenance mode, yet when my motivation kicks in I find it easy to eat tons of butter and lard in omad.

What do you find difficult/challenging?
your body isn’t the same as it was last year. It is constantly changing, so maybe you’d have to tweak a bit.

When I was doing Atkins, the general wisdom was that it worked well for weight loss the first time you did it, but if you left and came back, the weight losses wouldn’t be so spectacular. I found it to be true. I don’t know whether the same holds true for keto.

There is a real slowdown. I am in normal BMI range But I still want to be right in the middle of that range. I feel that I can not push my body to loose weight fast because it will react with states of hunger. And I think it is natural for this to be.

Maybe IF and ad a lot more fat to the meals you do eat so you don’t slow down your metabolism?

I am finding it hard too. I lost 15 kg last year and was super happy, by October I was starting to feel hungry so I upped my keto meal frequency. Weight was steady and I started to add more carbs in over Xmas time. I gained 2 kg. I resumed strict keto and by heck even with the routine I followed last year, the scale and tape measure are barely moving.
I am reading about whether to change when I eat. And switch from skipping breakfast to skipping dinnertime instead. And having a different intermittent fasting window.
Also I get that my body is less willing for it to give up one kg when I am nearer my goal weight, then when I was 15kg away.
I am also on winter break from my job at a garden centre /nursery. I am sure come the spring time, I will see the measurements shift downwards. I need to plan to keep the physical activty up over winter time more in future.
Keto has been the eating habit that has really helped me though.
Great results and this forum is one of the best resources to help me get through.
You are not alone.

I’m on my second go as well, well actually my third. Things have been more difficult each time. First time, last April, I did it for about 4 weeks. Just short of being fat adapted I’d say. I lost about 10 lbs. went low carb over the next several months and gained 5 back. Started keto again in late August, lost 12 lbs, got fat adapted. Screwed it all up between thanksgiving and Christmas and lost my adaptation. Gained all 12 back. Started again Christmas Day. Just got fat adapted again 2 days ago. Have only lost 3 lbs. (8 lbs down from start weight in April). It’s frustrating, but I feel good, especially now that I’m back to being fat adapted. I will stay the course, start doing some intermittent fasting, as my body allows, and just keep on keeping on. What else can I do, right?
