I am going to hit my 17th week on Wednesday 10/16/2024 and for the last few days I have been having heart palpitations and a little dizziness. Is this something that is normal and treatable or should I contact my doctor? I stopped drinking electrolytes because I thought that was it, but it has not cleared up. It almost feels like anxiety or maybe it is giving me anxiety.
17th week on Wednesday
Magnesium deficiency can cause heart palpitations and anxiety. If you are not already, you may want to try supplementing with Magnesium.
Okay, another thought: Approximately how many calories to you eat each day? I stopped tracking several years ago and I realized about six months ago that I have not been eating enough for quite some time. I started increasing my calories and I am feeling much better and sleeping much better. It’s possible you have drawn down some resources over the past 17 weeks.
I never hit any of those numbers I am always way under. I just don’t eat that much in a day. I need to schedule more time for it.
If you’re having heart problems, go see a doctor. Ignore these other posts. Life is not something to play with.

It’s not really a heart problem (I have been checked) it’s a side effect of keto and stress and anxiety. I spoke to my GP. Thanks for your concern.
I have been on Ketogenic way of eating for 9 years. No such problem. I employ you to see a qualified doctor. If the doctor puts you on a supplement, all good. But please don’t go by posts not qualified.

I am also in menopause and my gp said these are indicative in addition to keto
I am finally post menopausal at 58. Anxiety was definitely a problem. I will say though, that adding in more calories, especially more protein, has been a total game changer.
I’m sure Ann knows we are not qualified doctors. Sounds like she has already covered her bases in that area. I think she wants to know if any of us have experienced similar symptoms while keto.
Salt and magnesium help me with those symptoms. I DO have some heart issues and take meds for that. But I supplement with magnesium and salt to stop AFib flairs.
And yes, keeping my calories up helps too.
That’s good. You saw a doctor to get the life saving care you needed and then supplement with OTC.

Charles I have a great relationship with my very capable GP. He is aware of my every move. It’s ok, I am doing what he approves of.
That’s good. I’ve lost 53 lbs of keto. It’s safe, for me, and i don’t get hungry. My hats off to you.
