15k (9.3 miles) and electrolytes/fueling

Hello!

I’ve been carnivore for 5 weeks now, and I have decided to start training for a half marathon that comes up in May! (I’ve never ran more than 8 miles consecutively before)

I have signed up for a running group and this weekend we were encouraged to sign up for a race (either 5k or 15k). I know I can run a 5k, as I’ve done them plenty of times. So I’m challenging myself and doing the 15k (9.3 miles). This will be the longest I’ve ever ran, and I’m a little nervous about how I need to prepared for this race.
I’m not trying to break any records, my only goal is to not walk. My 5k pace is usually around 9:25/mile, so I’m hoping to stay around a 10:00 minute mile for this 15k.

Any recommendations on favorite electrolytes and proper food fueling the day before? I hate running after eating, so I’ll eat Saturday night and run Sunday morning.

Typically I eat a NY Strip or Ribeye at dinner (12oz) with about 2-3 scrambled eggs. This has been good enough for my 2-5 mile runs. But now I’m basically doubling that and wander if I should eat more fat? And Should I take in extra electrolytes? If so, good brands???

Not a runner, but welcome!

What time do you start? I have done well eating at 10pm for a 5am start. I’m afraid that apart from my bullet coffee I also indulged in a small carb treat before the start.
However. Fuelling for a 10K is not at all the same as for a marathon. It took me a long time to work out my fuelling strategy and I’m sure you will too. I was doing 10K’s long before I went on to 15K’s, not sure I would have been able to manage that as my first distance.
Good luck!
