Bacon ain’t bacon. You have to try and work out what the pigs were fed. Or, bacon that melts at room temperature is best avoided due to the wrong fat ratios. My thoughts.

You know I just watched a tv advert. It was for ColoGuard…it is a colon cancer screen test you get from your Dr, take home and mail it back in or something like that…but something caught my ear on it…it said you should start screening for colon cancer at age 45 and not wait to 50 because increasing colon cancer is among those 45 now for younger adults? …geez I was like, hmmm, all that eating plants really helping everyone? hmmm…all that eat big plant based menu and colon cancer is on the rise for younger adults? WTH? I don’t know…just put this chat here cause I thought about it all—skip the crap and eat up all the bacon, we all will be healthier …WEE

I often listen to audiobooks on my way to and from work. I was listening to books by Jack London, who was in Alaska, and wrote about the conditions there. They used dogsleds a lot, and they survived basically on raw bacon at times.

Of course, back then, the pigs ate scraps, grass, and whatever else the people had to feed them. And they also were probably different breeds than a lot of the pigs we have today.

yea but there is good and bad in that often we knew the source of our meats but there wasn’t vaccines either to help any livestock handlers to contain outbreaks and sanitary processing practices?..so you got a healthy hog ya hope which is mostly a good bet but with thousands of animals rotating in and out for massive population food it has to be a disease control factor and handling obviously so…win some/lose some in the overall production of what we ate back then and now??
