13th week of IF, still not adapted đŸ˜Ș

fasting

Lol have you at all looked into intermittent fasting ? I do know what you’re saying and you’re teaching me the ketogenic diet way for which i’m very grateful. But IF you DO reach ketosis. I brush and floss daily. I know what keto breath is and i already went through the carb withdrawal phase. Still very grateful for your input. How’s this for ketogenic? I use the app cronometer and the net cerbs is under the fat bar.

I IF almost every day, following a 1pm-9pm eating window. I also know what my macros are, less than 20g net carbs, around 96g protein, and 163g fat. I know i’m in ketosis because I feel like a super human, and experience none of the issues you’ve said you have. If you’re still eating donuts every day, you’ve not withdrawn from enough carbs. I’m beginning to think more and more this is not serious, and is instead a troll post. Or, you’re 12. If that’s the case, congratulations, you’ve stumbled upon a great resource for being incredibly healthy for the rest of your life if you start following keto properly and don’t put all your eggs in the IF on a SAD basket.

But didnt you have an adaptation phase?

(Lonnie Hedley) #24

Yes, I stopped eating donuts and other carbs. Made sure I kept them as low as possible. I didn’t IF when I started, I didn’t watch calories. I cut carbs. Within a couple days, I started experiencing the benefits of ketosis. I knew I was in ketosis because of how I felt, not because of my breath. I knew I was “adapted” as you continually put it, because I was losing at least a lb a day in my first month of dropping carbs. I think your research is WAY off. IF on the Standard American Diet will not get you fat adapted. Fat adapted is using fat for energy instead of carbs. You can’t use fat if you’re still consuming a bunch of carbs. Estimate of 1 donut is 22g of carbs. If that’s what you’re doing every day, you’ll never be fat adapted, because your body will always use the donut for fuel before the fat, keeping you from adapting.

Hey man, it wouldnt let me reply. I just wanted to let you know I’m not as dumb as you think. Put yourself in my shoes for a second. I research and research everything thrown at me like on end. I have found slimmer people have a much harder time adapting to fat and larger people have a swiftless process because they have so much to burn. It’s much more difficult for a slim person but i am very grateful foe your keto advice. Just so you know your liver can only hold so much glycogen which gets depleted after 10 hours, forcing us to use fat for fuel which is yes, ketosis. I am not wrong, look it up Lonnie.

I’ll reply for you.

I’m 6 foot tall, and 142lbs. I’m far from a “larger person”. My adaptation was easy, because I cut carbs, like donuts. But what do I know, I’m only feeling the best I’ve ever felt in my entire life, and do not experience the issues you have. Might I suggest you start a podcast, I’m sure you could be more popular than 2ketodudes in no time since you’re obviously an expert on how to feel like crap while intermittent fasting.

I wish you luck with whatever you’re doing. You’ve successfully trolled me, and I congratulate you for that.

General guidelines, rules of thumb, and winging it are fine if it’s working for you. But if you’re not getting the results you want, more precision is required. Ketosis is not a feeling, it’s physiological state. And it’s measurable. The adaptation clock doesn’t start ticking until you’re in ketosis, and you don’t know if, when, or how much time you’ve spent there because you don’t measure.

Buy a blood glucose meter. The machine is cheap and the strips are cheap. Take readings everyday until you figure out how you body responds to the foods you eat. If you can afford it, buy a blood ketone meter. It will enable you to more easily determine energy utilization within your body.

Lastly, if you’ve felt crappy for the past 4 months as a result diet, more investigation is warranted. A relatively LC diet even with donut consumption, should not cause you to feel more crappy than usual on your SAD. The oft mentioned keto flu occurs because of inadequate energy availability as a result of one energy source (glucose) being withdrawn before another energy source (fatty acids) can be fully utilized. If you have been over consuming carbs, keto flu can’t occur. I don’t think how you feel can be attributed to that.

It sounds like you’re confusing ketosis and fat adaptation. You can not get fat adapted while eating carbs like oatmeal and donuts and not eating fats. IF can get you into ketosis but not fat adaptation. That can take months and you have to switch from burning sugar. You keep saying the last time you got “adapted.” Do you actually mean “adapted” to burning fat or something else? Your first 13 weeks you couldn’t have been in ketosis nor fat adapted judging by what you ate. I see this was awhile ago. What’s happening with you now?
