10 weeks Lipid panel changes

#1

I have been on 40 mg lipitor for years and had terrible triglyceride numbers for decades. You may have varying opinions on how bad cholesterol levels are, but I haven’t heard any decent arguments in favor of high triglycerides! Anyway here is my immediate pre-keto lipids panel and one after 10 weeks. We are lowering the statins with the intention of going to 0.

Lipids Panel__________ Pre-KETO _________After 10 weeks ________Normal range

CHOLESTEROL, TOTAL 146 mg/DL________158 mg/dL___________ 100 - 199 mg/dL

TRIGLYCERIDES _______202 mg/dL ________108 mg/dL ___________0 - 149 mg/dL

HDL CHOLESTEROL ____ 36 mg/dL ____ 46 mg/dL_______ >39 mg/dL

VLDL CHOLESTEROL CAL 40 mg/dL ____ __22 mg/dL ___ _____ 5 - 40 mg/dL

LDL CHOLESTEROL CALC _ 70 mg/dL _ _ _ _90 mg/dL _________0 - 99 mg/dL

Nice change, especially for only 10 weeks. :sunglasses:

Also on 40mg atorvastatin (generic lipitor). It kept my cholesterol numbers in line but not trigs.

After starting keto, trigs are now good, while atorvastatin keeps the other numbers in line.

Depending on my weight and lipid tests in October, I am going to discuss tapering off the atorvastatin with my doctor.
