1 month in

So ive intentionally been doing keto for about a month now. I’m 30 yrs old and 5’11" and my max weight was around 225lb. But i started keto (or rather what i call my modified keto diet) at about 185lb. This morning i weighed in and reached a new low of 174.2. All my adult life i was not able to break that 180s pound weight barrier and now it looks like i might drop into the 160s by mid september!!

Ive struggled to get rid of this blubber for my whole adult life and now it seems like its just melting off. Plus im never starving like i used to be. My mind is blown. Lol.

Whats more is i think i might also be gaining muscle. Is that possible? Or is it that im loosing fat that was hiding muscle definition? I havnt been lifting weights or anything substantial.

Cheers, Ryan - it’s nice too see those positive results.

From what you say, I would doubt it’s outright muscle gain - gaining definition sounds probable, to me.

Congrats Ryan. It’s amazing, isn’t it? Glad to hear your good news!

Yes, with keto it’s possible. I find my body recompositioning with little to no serious exercise.

Right on, bother! Your progress inspires me.

I’m one month in today too. I’m losing weight and feeling great. Congrats

Congrats!

Congrats Ryan! That is really awesome.

One thing to remember is that fat come off when your body is ready. At some point your loss may slow down but if you keep calm and Keto on it will start up again. I’ve been doing keto since November and I have had great success, but there have been a few weeks where the scale didn’t move, or moved in the wrong direction. I only mention this so that you don’t lose your enthusiasm even if the obvious improvements aren’t continuing to multiply.

Again Awesome job.

Certainly. It seems like even during this month there were periods of no weight loss and then seemingly over night id be down a few. The body is a weird and interesting thing.

No doubt - this stuff is fascinating. I think that water gain or loss can easily mask any true changes in body weight due to burning fat or putting it on, even for multiple days. The amount of salt and water we take in, our overall electrolyte balance, the food we eat and how much is left in our system, our activity, perspiration level, etc. - there are so many things to control for. Even if we weigh at the same time each day, can we really make “all other things be equal”?

For most of us, we’re really talking about a half pound or less of fat loss per day, which is a pretty trifling amount of water equivalent. Used to be, on the “standard American diet” with a lot of salt, if I went 2 days not eating, not taking in any salt at all, I’d be down 8 or 10 lbs, easy.

Right. On my standard diet my weight fluctuated wildly.

It seems to fluctuate less on keto but i still fluctuate a bit. I weigh my self regularly and I take note of new lows all time lows. Today i weighed in at 172.6. Which is a new low. Idk what happend but this week ive just lost a ton.

Maybe i havnt been eating enough salt this week or something and thats why i have this sudden drop on weight. But regardless even that was true it still is a new all time low you know what i mean?

:slightly_smiling_face: Heck yes. The trend, in this case, is your friend.
